I had been living in my apartment for less than two months when I was given the marching orders to work from home due to the pandemic. I discovered a lot of things that I “needed” quickly – from storage solutions to face masks for stress induced acne to fancy kitchen gadgets. One of the beautiful things about living in Nashville is that most of my Amazon Prime packages arrive next day… which is a not so beautiful thing for my bank account.
I hate posts where people link to 47 products in a collage and call each one their “obsession” or “favorite” because, hi, that’s not how that works. So, in the spirit of only talking about products that I actually do love, I’m going to share with you my top six favorite Amazon purchases of quarantine – three I absolutely adore and use very frequently and three runner-ups that I could live without but would prefer not to.
Top Three Amazon Favorites
Smart Plugs When we’re not in the midst of a pandemic and there are actual places to be and people to see, I am the queen of leaving my curling wand on. So, I picked up some smart plugs – a device that looks like an outlet, that pops into your actual outlet. You can plug anything into the plug outlet, then use an app on your phone to control it.
What started as a solution to my forgetfulness has become a game changer. The app allows you to create timers, schedules, etc., which is perfect for someone who falls asleep reading every night (oops) and sleeps until the last minute possible (double oops).
I would recommend ordering the four pack right off the back; I only ordered two the first time and then ordered a second set immediately after setting them up.
Short-sleeve crop top Apparently quarantine Dana wears crop tops. I ordered this in white and loved it so much I ordered a black one, as well. I’ll probably end up ordering more the longer I’m in quarantine.
The crop hits at the perfect length to be worn with high waisted leggings. For sizing, I usually wear either an extra small or small in tops; I have these in a small and it is snug.
PB2 I love peanut butter. In college, I put it on pretty much everything I ate – apples, pretzels, you name it. But now that I don’t have the same metabolism I did at 20, I don’t need to be eating PB by the spoonful.
I love that PB2 is a lower calorie and lower carb option and that it’s high in protein. (May we never forget the meat shortage at the beginning of this pandemic… sometimes you’ve gotta get creative.)
Amazon Favorites Honorable Mentions
Eyelure Pre-Glued Lashes I was definitely #influenced to purchase these by Andrea Pierre (A Slice O Pie). I love the drama of lash extensions, but if you’ve been here for awhile, you know how well my previous experience with them went. I also love the drama of fake lashes, but I haven’t touched them myself since the time I accidentally glued my eyelashes together.
These are foolproof. My two biggest tips are to be super gentle removing them from the packaging and to line the lash up with the outer corner of your eye then work it inward from there.
Sound activated party light Back in the beginning of quarantine when Zoom happy hours were still a thing, my friends and I had one that was club themed. My friend Shawn had one of these lights, so I bought one too. It is so silly, but so fun! It will sync with the music and has a ton of different settings.
High-waisted bikini I ordered this at the end of April when it looked like we might actually get a summer. (I was #influenced to purchase this after reading this post.) I’ve worn it a few times while sitting on my balcony or on a friend’s back porch while house sitting. I love that it doesn’t dip or sag like some swimsuits do, and I find the high-waisted bottoms to be comfy and extremely flattering.
