As much as I love playing with beauty products, I don’t wear a full face of makeup every day. I think that if I ever become a morning person, that might change, but for now, I’m lucky to remember my leftovers, and I don’t even bother with coffee until I get to work. However, I do like looking somewhat polished, so I shoot for a five-minute face on weekdays, and it truly is a game changer! It is amazing how much more awake you can look with a coat of mascara and a swipe of balm!
I found my five-minute face through trial and error. For example, I’d apply a CC cream, it would suck all of the color from my face, and in turn, would require a bronzer or blush to add it back. At that point, I felt like I might as well just wear a full face. I highly recommend playing around with products and seeing what works best for you! The steps below are my everyday routine for a five-minute face.
Step One: CONCEAL • NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($30, shade Creme Brulee)
I fell in love with this concealer because of how well it works without foundation. I apply a little bit under my eyes and on any blemishes, then pat it in with my finger.
Step Two: SET • Mario Badescu Special Healing Powder ($13)
I typically skip powder because it accentuates even the tiniest lines on my face, but I love this powder. It’s neutralizing and even helps with acne. I apply a really light dusting across my entire face with a fluffy powder brush and reapply as needed.
Step Three: EYESHADOW • Mally Beauty Evercolor Shadow Stick ($13, shade Burnished Bronze)
I apply this to my eyelids and blend it up toward my crease with my finger.
Step Four: BROWS • BrowGal Instatint Eyebrow Gel ($22, shade Brown Hair)
I skip the brow pencil and go straight for the gel. Given the way that mine are shaped, I brush the “starting point” of my brows up, the hairs between the starting point and the arch are brushed down, and the hairs from the arch to the “end” of my brows are brushed up. (I definitely recommend asking your esthetician about this! Mine is always awesome with product recommendations.)
If I wear nothing else, I wear this mascara. It is by far my favorite drug store mascara, and I’m willing to put it up against some of my favorite high-end mascaras. The primer comes out a little generously, so I like to scrape it off on the inside of the tube before applying. I also apply primer to both eyes before applying the mascara – you get the best results if the primer is a bit tacky. (PS – Ulta runs buy one/get one half off sales on this regularly, and around the holidays, you can find gift sets of both products for about $13.)
I go super simple on the lips with a glossy balm. As it gets a little warmer outside, I will probably switch to something tinted.
And that’s it! Simple enough, right?! What’s your daily routine? Let’s chat in the comments!
