Happy Monday, y’all! To be really honest with y’all, I have been stressed out more than usual over the past three months. Over the past few weeks, I’ve really tried to focus on bringing a little extra sunshine into my life to balance everything out. If you’re in the same boat that I’m in, here are a couple of tips to try out.
Read blogs that make you happy. One of the things I love most about the blogging world are the connections that I’ve made. My friend Jordyn is such a ray of sunshine, so I tend to pop over to her blog when I need a little hint of positivity in my day. I also really enjoy reading Carly’s blog, as she is the person who inspired me to write!
Try essential oils. I love essential oils. I know that they aren’t for everyone, but with all of the issues that I’ve had with my health, I wanted to give them a try. I absolutely love Stress Away oil. Whenever my day takes a stressful turn, I just rub some on my wrists. I also really like diffusing Eucalyptus Blue and applying Panaway Oil topically to help when my body aches from stress. (If you’re interested in ordering oils, click here.)
Wear bright lipstick. I’ve realized that putting a little more effort into my appearance helps my mood. When I’m feeling bummed, I reach for my favorite pink lip color instead of the nude or mauve color that I typically reach for at the office. Not only does it brighten my face up, but it brightens my day up. (I am so cheesy, but seriously, try it when you are having a bad day!)
Surround yourself with positive people. If something rough is going on in your life, remember that it’s not a burden that you have to carry alone. Surround yourself with positive and encouraging people.
Cut back on social media. I love the connections social media has helped me to form, but it can also be extremely overwhelming when you’re having a bad day. The first thing I do when I’m stressed is to cut back on my social media consumption. If I have something to say, I’ll tweet it from my computer, then check my notifications a couple of hours later when I’m taking a break.
Do something that makes you happy. My dad always tells me this when I’m having a bad day, and it’s so true. Instead of dwelling in the negative, do something positive. Cook up a feast in the kitchen, write it out, go for a run, hit up a yoga class with your bestie, volunteer… whatever it is that puts you in a better mood (and isn’t self destructive!), go do it.
What are you going to do today to put a little extra sunshine into your life or into the world?
