I’ve been playing with lots of different beauty products lately, so I wanted to share an updated list of my makeup routine since it has changed so dramatically! I used to be a makeup snob and only use drug store brands, but when I moved out on my own, I was super broke and couldn’t afford to keep up that habit. Over the past year, I’ve started to discover where to splurge and where to save when it comes to beauty products. I also discovered my makeup “secret weapon” recently, and I can’t wait to tell you about it!
I don’t feel like I look like a completely different person without makeup, but I wanted to share a photo of how I look step-by-step so that you can see how the products actually work!
PRIMER: YSL Touche Elcat Blur Primer ($52) c/o || When you look at the product in the bottle, it appears to have little flecks of glitter in it. I wasn’t sure how I felt about that, but they don’t show up on your face. This is the first silicon based primer I’ve used, and I loved it. It’s a little out of my price range, but I can see myself re-purchasing and keeping it for special events.
CONCEALER: Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda II Concealer Palette ($10.49) || My friend Samantha told me about this, and it has pretty much changed my life. I started using concealer soon after I started my new job, because I had been burning the candle at both ends preparing for the switch, and it was very apparent on my face. When I saw my former work family after I started using concealer, they all commented on how refreshed and happy I look now. This stuff works miracles. Buy it.
FOUNDATION: Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue ($29) || I really love this foundation. It’s super light weight and gives you a natural glow.
POWDER: Make Up For Ever High Definition Powder ($34) || I’m a big fan of translucent powders. (I started using them when I spray tanned all of the time because I was either super tan or super pale.) I’m super pale, and I feel like buying the lightest shade of powders really washes me out. I’m not a fan of pressed powders, so I like that this is loose.
EYE SHADOW: Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette ($54) || I love eye shadow palettes because there are so many options! I don’t have a lot of storage space, so I also appreciate how compact a palette is. On a typical day, I use Dust (second from left) on my entire eyelid, Mugshot (third from right) in my crease, and I blend with a combination of Burnout and Limit (third and fourth from right.)
EYE LINER: Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen ($7.19) || I’m partial to pen eyeliners just because I think they’re less fuss. I’ve always had really great experiences with this particular one, as opposed to other brands with similar pens that dry out way too quickly.
MASCARA: Maybelline Rocket Volum’ Express ($5.83) || I used to be a mascara snob. I have sensitive eyes, and I replace my mascaras super frequently. I usually get something new just so I can see what’s out there, but this is my second tube of Rocket Volum’ Express!
CHEEKS & LIPS: Josie Maran Argan Color Stick ($22) || This was recommended to me by my blogger friend Kaitlin, and it has fueled my obsessed with 2-in-1 products! I’ve never used anything besides powder blush up until this point, but I feel like this blends much easier, and the application is easier to control. When wearing it as a lipstick, I don’t have to reapply very frequently, and it doesn’t stain my lips. I actually wear it with no liner!
FINISHING TOUCH: YSL Touche Eclat Blur Perfector ($55) c/o || I used this product for the first time while in Savannah. I’d applied makeup earlier in the day, sweat like crazy from the humidity and heat, and then took a nap. By the time we were getting ready for dinner, I couldn’t bring myself to wash my face and re-apply makeup. I was nervous because you use a little pad and smear the product on your face. OH MY GOSH. Y’all, this is like the “facetune” or whatever app people use on Instagram. When I wear this, I don’t have pores, and my face looks airbrushed. It’s amazing. I usually apply the primer in the morning, and then use this when I need a touch up. I love the little pink compact… I think it’s super chic, and it makes me feel like Cher Horowitz.
Voila! Finished product!
I’m always so curious about what products everyone else uses, so I’d love to know what your makeup “secret weapon” or that product that you can’t leave the house without is!
I received products noted “c/o” from Influenster for testing purposes. All opinions are my own.
