Do you ever feel like so many things in your life are contingent on one thing? That’s how I’ve felt about the LSAT! I’ve had all these awesome things I want to do this summer, but I haven’t been able to do so because so much of my time has been devoted to that test. Now that I can check that off, here are the other things that I hope to experience this summer!
Take the LSAT // I am so happy to check this one off! I will have my score by July 7, but I just keep pushing that thought to the back of my mind. I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.
Visit Dollywood // I was actually supposed to do this today! But I had my infusion on Thursday, and I’m really not recovering as quickly as I would like. So I’m using today to lay in bed, read, write, and just give my body a chance to relax.
Exercise more frequently // This was one of the first things to go when I realized studying didn’t leave me with enough hours in the day. Since I have more free time and the weather is usually pretty warm, I’m going to make it a goal to be more active. Francis loves to go on long walks, so I plan on taking for her for long walks downtown; hopefully this will help both of us to shed a couple of extra pounds we put on this winter!
Make tassel bracelets // I bought the supplies like two months ago… It’s time! Keep an eye out for a post all about them 🙂
Cook more frequently // I don’t really enjoy cooking, but after the amount of takeout I’ve eaten over the past two months, I’m ready for some honest to goodness home cooked meals. Even if that means making grilled chicken, rice, and hummus with cucumber slices for every meal, it has to be better than the garbage I’ve been putting into my body.
Visit my dad & stepmom // I haven’t seem them since my birthday in February, and I am sooo excited! I have a trip planned, and I really just cannot wait. Nothing look good food, good wine, and good company.
Finish painting canvases // I still owe some of y’all canvases for your help with my Relay for Life fundraising. I promise that I haven’t forgotten! They’re actually all almost done, and I may be able to get them in the mail on Monday depending on my energy levels!
Travel // I’m going to Savannah in July for a bachelorette party, and I’m super psyched!! This is part of the reason that I’m trying to exercise more frequently, as well.
Read at least three books // I hope to read even more, but I try to give myself realistic goals. I’ve seen so many “summer reading” posts, and I’m overwhelmed because there are so many different books that I want to read. I’m definitely open to suggestions!
Make an “About me” page for my blog // I have wanted to do this forever, but I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. But I plan to have one by the end of the summer.
Do outreach for the homeless community // There is a large number of people without homes in my area, and it honestly breaks my heart. A few weeks ago, I went to Target, and there was a man outside with a “homeless & hungry” sign. I really felt like God laid it on my heart to help him out, so when I was grabbing what I needed, I also bought bread, peanut butter, Chewy bars, pretzels, and a huge bottle of water. When I went outside, he was nowhere to be found. My boyfriend was away at a training at the time, and when I told him, he told me about how one of the speakers was talking about how he keeps little “kits” in his car so that when he sees a homeless individual on the side of the road, he can give it to them. My little brother has a paper route, so I’m going to get the coupons from extra papers each week, and stock up on necessities that are on sale – toothpaste, hand sanitizer, etc. so that I can start creating these baggies. This is probably the bucket item list that I’m most excited about!
Write at least five handwritten notes // I think that reflection is important, and I also think that letting people know how you feel about them is important. Writing handwritten notes is the perfect way to combine these. (PS – I also think that sometimes writing a letter and then throwing it away is a great way to get something off of your chest.) If you’re looking for someone to write letters to, check out this site.
See a movie // I was pretty much begging my boyfriend to go see Jurassic World with me today, and that’s when I realized I couldn’t tell you the last time I went to the movies. So I hope to go see at least one movie this summer, get a large popcorn… and sneak in a soda and some candy 😉
Study Spanish for at least an hour a week // I don’t know when my next trip to Mexico will be, but I want to be prepared! I don’t expect to become fluent overnight, but I’d like to know enough for general pleasantries, and more than just “Where is the bathroom?” “White wine, please!” and “I’m sorry, I don’t speak Spanish.”
Enough about me – tell me about you! What is on your summer bucket list? Any tips for me?
And don’t forget – I’m running a giveaway right now for Father’s Day!
