I know I’m preaching to the choir when I say that it’s hard to be a female. Life is full of expectations, and self-esteem is a fragile thing.
Lately, I have encountered a lot of just flat out mean and negative women. Grown women who can’t handle not getting their way and react by turning other women against their one time friends over something insignificant. Women who do nothing but put everyone and everything down. Women who attempt to destroy relationships because the man they want to be with is happily dating someone else. And quite frankly, I am over it.
Men don’t really understand how hard it is to be a woman. (And if a man does, God bless him. He’s a keeper.) They don’t understand the desire for perfect eyebrows, a great manicure, and forever wanting to weigh five pounds less. But women do. We know what it’s like to wake up one morning and feel defeated because our hair won’t lay properly or our dress gives us linebacker shoulders. We know what it’s like to be taken less seriously simply because of gender. And it shouldn’t be like that.
What’s the solution? In my opinion, it’s kindness. Pure, genuine kindness. Nothing of the passive aggressive variety.
My goal for today is to be kind to everyone I meet, even the women who would stab me in the back just to watch me bleed. Because at the end of the day, it says much more about them than it ever will me. And what better way to lead than by example?
Happy Wednesday! What’s your goal for the day?
