I’ve never done a restaurant review, but I know I have some readers that live in Michigan, so I wanted to let y’all know about Uptown Catering!
Last weekend, my boyfriend and I drove up to Kentucky to meet his family halfway for dinner. It was such a nice treat to see them, since we hadn’t seen them since Father’s Day. We were definitely spoiled, because they also brought along a cooler full of Armenian food!
My boyfriend, Chris, is Armenian, and his uncle Gary owns Uptown Catering – the source of our Armenian goodies. Sunday afternoon was a lazy one for us, and we heated up the frozen goodies in the oven. SO GOOD. Oh my gosh, so good.
We had lahmajoons & cheese boeregs. Lahmajoons are Armenian pizzas that are usually topped with a mixture of lamb (occasionally beef), peppers, and onions. It sounds less than appetizing and doesn’t photograph too beautifully, but I seriously feel like I’m tasting Heaven when I eat one. Cheese boeregs are a pasty made of cheese and fillo dough. They do not disappoint.
(I wish that I had taken a better photo, but I got the idea for a review post-meal. The cheese boeregs are on the left, and the lahmajoons are on the right.)
I had them for lunch again on Monday, and they were seriously so delicious that I wanted to have them for dinner, but at the same time I want to save them for a special occasion.
Basically, the point of this is that if you live or visit near Keego Harbor, Michigan, you should check them out. (The exact address is 2038 Cass Lake Road, Keego Harbor, MI.) I don’t know if I’ve ever been so in love with food. (It is kind of obsessive.) They also have American food, hummus, and other yummies.
Have you ever been to Uptown Catering or tried Armenian food? Doesn’t it sound yummy?!
