I have come to terms that there are just some obsessions that I constantly view on social media, but will never understand. (Am I old now?)
And please excuse the lack of photos… I wasn’t trying to get sued by using copyrighted photos on an article like this! Haha
E-Gents – I can’t explain to you how much I dislike e-gents who spew off nonsensical quotes about how a woman should behave. But if you read this post that I wrote a few months ago, it’s a start.
Blair Waldorf – I’m only on the first season of Gossip Girl, but I just really dislike her. Like when girls say that they want to be just like her, I’m completely confused. She has a great wardrobe, but she’s so mean and manipulative. Maybe I’ll grow to love her, but not anytime soon.
Chuck Bass – Samesies. I feel like Chuck is that skeevy guy that you meet at a bar that keeps trying to buy you a drink and won’t take no for an answer and sends you nasty messages on Tinder. When I see him on the screen, my skin crawls.
Orange is the New Black – Maybe I’m a prude, but this is not my show. After seeing a bloody tampon being served to an inmate, I gave up on trying to enjoy it. The storyline is funny, and I definitely identify with Piper, because I feel like that would be my life in jail. I’m just not a fan of the unnecessary crudeness.
Finding a partner with married parents – This is another trend I’ve been seeing on twitter lately. Apparently dating someone who’s parents are divorced is a deal breaker. I’m glad to know that the decisions of my parents change the way that you feel about me as a person. Congrats, you are beyond shallow!
Jay Gatsby – Did the youth of America miss the memo that the Gatsby they’re so obsessed with is a shady dude that dies in the end? Why do you want to party like a criminal? How about partying like KJP & Vickers? They seem pretty classy. (P.S. – The Great Gatsby will forever be my favorite book, so please don’t think that I’m hating on it.)
“Bae” – Can this trend just die already?
Mugshots – Why are there twitter accounts dedicated to tweeting photos of local mugshots? And why do people retweet them? I personally think that doing this shows such a lack of class. And if you are going to do this, you should probably be a saint that has never done anything illegal.
Is there an obsession on this list that you completely disagree with? Tell me why! What obsessions don’t you understand?
Also, please take a second to make sure that you aren’t a “no-reply blogger,” and that your email is associated with your account. I’d love to start replying back to comments by email because I feel like there is so much more that can be said that way, but I feel horrible not being able to comment some of y’all back that way. 🙂
