I was going to title this post “Summertime Necessities,” but then I realized that summer’s official start day over a month away! Living in the South, I feel like summer is the time between graduations and football season, because sweet goodness, it is HOT! Here are my necessities for surviving this weather in the South.
A rain coat, like this one from The Pink Giraffe. While on a weekend getaway to Gatlinburg last weekend, I was kicking myself for not owning one of these. It rained at Dollywood on Friday, and then rained for a good portion of the day on Saturday. Lesson learned – rain coats are must have for this in-between season!
A beach read, like Psychos (the newest White Girl Problems Book.) If you haven’t read the first book in the series – White Girl Problems – go ahead and scoop it up, too! This book will make you laugh until you cry. I suggest reading it on the weekend, because it’s practically impossible to lay it down.
A maxi dress, like this Lilly Pulitzer one. I have the same dress in a different print from a few years ago, and in my opinion, it’s worth the $198 price tag. It sucks in at your waist, pushes up at the top, and is flowy everywhere else. It’s like wearing yoga pants!
A good razor, like the BIC Soleil Glow. If you’re going to be showing skin, you’re probably going to want a good razor, right?! I received some of these for free to review, and I was nervous. After a bad experience with some random razors that I found on sale at Walgreens, I have been very selective on what touches my sensitive skin. But I have been so pleased with these, and I especially love using them before I get a spray tan because I feel like they really exfoliate. Whenever I get an item to review, I always have my mom use it and offer her opinion on it, just so I don’t feel like maybe I’m being biased because I got something for free. These received Momma D approval, as well! So for all you ladies that are picky about your razors, here you go 🙂
A good sunscreen, like this one from Coppertone. I’m a big advocate of protecting your skin. I love spray tanning, and I avoid laying out in the sun. Don’t even get me started about tanning beds. If I’m going to be out in the sun for any length of time, I wear sunscreen. (If you don’t do it because you’re afraid of cancer, you should do it to keep your skin from aging!) I really like this spray on formula because it’s quick and easy. Plus, it eliminates that weirdness of needing someone to rub lotion on your back. (But if you enjoy that, you do you 😉 )
What are your necessities for this crazy weather, regardless of where you’re from?! I’d love to know! Also, if you haven’t taken a second to enter to win my giveaway with Carolina Cotton Bow Ties, you have until 11 pm EST tonight to enter!!! Happy Monday, friends!
P.S – I do not own any of the photos in this post, but have linked them back to their appropriate source. Please remember to link them back to their original source if you choose to do the same. Also, the opinions in this post are my own. I did not receive any kind of compensation for this post. I received the razors free of charge in exchange for a honest review.
