It’s crazy to think that this time last year I was interning at a non-profit, and now I’m working here! I’m still working on building a wardrobe that is professional yet fun. I like to play with color, but lately I’ve been gravitating towards all black pieces. (I like to pretend that I’m a chic grownup that wears all black…shhhh! 😉 ) Here are some of my top pieces that are both professional and affordable!
Companionway Supply Co Chevron Blouse
When I say that I’m in love with this top, I mean it. Not only is it comfortable, but the small chevron pattern makes it versatile for work and weekend. I love when a sleeve stops at the elbow, because it’s just so dainty looking. Pair this top with some cropped pants and a killer bracelet.
White House | Black Market Peplum Skirt
A pencil skirt is a must-have when working in an office. I have them in a multitude of colors because they are just so easy to style. I like to wear my khaki and navy ones with button-ups, my violet lace one with textured shirts, and my black one with just about anything. Most of my pencil skirts are from White House | Black Market.
Gap Slim Cropped Pants
I used to be obsessed with J.Crew’s cropped pants… until I discovered Gap’s cropped pants. The fit is amazing, and my gray pair from Gap looks so professional. (You can find fun colored pairs at J. Crew & Old Navy!) I love cropped pants because they remind me of Audrey Hepburn, and because they’re just a little more fun than regular dress pants! I like to pair these with sassy graphic t-shirts or thin gingham button-ups on weekends.
Jessica Simpson Leve Flats
I own these shoes in brown and get so much wear out of them that it isn’t even funny. They are comfortable and versatile; I like to wear mine with dresses, dress pants, and even jeans on casual Fridays or weekends! I’ve had my pair forever, and they are still alive and kickin’, even after being worn in that Polar Vortex. (…oops!)
Jessica Simpson Mandalaye Oxfords
These shoes are on my birthday wishlist! If you haven’t noticed a trend, I am obsessed with Jessica Simpson shoes. It’s actually my go to shoe brand because they are so comfortable and last forever! I can imagine pairing this with cute dresses, skinny jeans, and even patterned shorts in the summer.
Ann Taylor St. Jude Elephant Studs
It is rare that I wear anything besides stud earrings to work, but I always try to find a funky pair! I love that these have pave’ rhinestones on them, and I love even more that 50% of the purchase price goes to St. Jude!
What are your professional picks? I’m always looking for new ideas!
