SPF Skincare: Fuss-free Products for an Active Lifestyle

I was gifted the products in this post by Lancome via Influenster.  Writing a blog post wasn't required, I just enjoyed them so much I wanted to spread the word.  This post contains affiliate links.  Thank you for supporting Seersucker Sass blog!

If you saw last night's Instagram post, you know this weekend was all about self-care in my world.  I started Saturday out with a trip to the Farmers Market followed by a nice long walk downtown with Francis.  Saturday evening was spent doing outdoor yoga to celebrate my favorite hot yoga studio's one year anniversary.  And after brunch on the patio yesterday, I went for a long walk by the river.

Given my history with melanoma, sun exposure isn't something I'm willing to take chances with.  I know a little sun is unavoidable with an active lifestyle (and I have zero plans to revert back to my 24/7/365 cardigan habit), so I've implemented SPF products into my skincare and beauty routine so that I always know my face is covered.  (Why is it the easiest to forget?!)

Let's start with my foundation - Lancôme Skin Feels Good Nourishing Foundation (c/o).  This has been my primary foundation since May, and I fully intend to restock when I run out.  Not only is it SPF 23, but it doesn't feel or smell like a sunscreen.  The smell is pleasant, and it feels more like a serum than a foundation. It's also adaptable - I wear this with a full face of makeup and with a five minute face.  (I've even worn it for an on camera interview, and there was no flashback!)

If you like a full coverage foundation, this probably isn't for you.  But if you're into the "no makeup makeup" look, then I highly recommend giving this a try.  It gives your skin a nice, natural glow, and stays put through heat, sun, and sweat.

If you're looking for actual sunscreen, Lancôme Renergie Lift Multi-Action Ultra Firming and Dark Spot Correcting Moisturizer SPF 30 (c/o) is a good choice.  It smells and feels like sunscreen, but it won't clog your pores and cause breakouts like so many other face sunscreens do.  I was really excited to find that it acts as a nice base layer to makeup and it also layers really nicely over a full face of makeup.  Also, how many other sunscreens help with dark spots, skin firmness, and fine lines?!

Lancôme also gifted me with the Prismatic Plump Lip Gloss in Effervescent.  It really doesn't have anything to do with skin care, but it's a fun product and it looks nice alone or paired over other lip products.  (When the gloss on my lip stain fades away, I love to apply this on top of it!)  It also doesn't have that aggressive tingling that some lip plumping products have, and it's nice and minty.

And last but not least, my favorite product out of the four is probably the Lancôme Advanced Genefique Youth Activating Serum (c/o).   This product helps with dullness, uneven skin texture, and fine lines and wrinkles.  I use this every evening, but I slather on a little extra when I've had sun exposure.  I definitely notice a difference in the firmness of my skin when I forget to use this product for a week.  #oops  I've had such a positive experience that I've considered splurging on the eye cream.

I want to hear from y'all!  What are your favorite "fuss free" products when it comes to the sun?  Is it a specific type of sunscreen?  A big floppy hat?  Let's share best practices in the comments!

Also, wishing you the best on this Monday and reminding you that you can handle whatever this day throws your way!

  1. I love the Skin Feels Good Foundation! The lightest shade is still too dark for me but I make it work because I love the way it looks! I really want to try the Genefique serum soon!

  2. I am pretty boring with SPF and stay loyal to Neutrogena sunscreens! They're great for sensitive skin! So good to know this about all the Lancome ones though. :)

    1. I also like Neutrogena sunscreen. I find that it does a good job of applying smoothly and evenly.

  3. Putting sunscreen on is such a pain in the butt. I love it when I find good everyday products that already have it in them. So much easier that way.
