September Coffee Date

Sometimes I struggle to write because I'm uninspired.  But most of the time, I struggle to get content on this blog because there are so many thoughts running through my head that I can't even figure out where to start.  Sometimes life is heavy, and it doesn't feel right to write about shoes.  Other days, life is heavy and writing about shoes and lipstick is a nice distraction.

There's been a lot going on the past couple of months - some great and some not so great - and I think it's important to talk about both.

HUSTLE & BUSTLE  •  I've been learning a lot about trusting God's timing and just having to let go and go with the flow.  The day before my huge, three-day work event kicked off, my uncle called from two hours away... as he was being wheeled back for emergency heart surgery.  I spent the next three days frazzled and running on fumes.  Instead of being hyper prepared, I was working on things right before they were due.  The people in my life are amazing.  When my car started acting up, my co-worker just handed me his keys.  One of my friends/ our amazing event photographer helped me pick out a rental car for my upcoming work trip.  Any time something went wrong, there were at least two people there ready to help.  The amount of grace I was shown was humbling.

FALL BUCKET LIST  •  Where I live, it's usually warm right up until Halloween.  However, it feels like fall is coming early this year.  Since I struggled with my health this summer and spent a lot of time indoors, I'm creating a fall bucket list.  I only have two items on my list - watch Hocus Pocus and go on a night hike - so thankfully I have a few more days to finish up the list before fall makes it's official arrival.  (PS - I already have tickets to see an outdoor showing of Hocus Pocus, and I am psyched.)

TRAVEL  •  I feel like I've been everywhere the past few months.  Along with a couple of trips to Lake Keowee, I also spent a few days in Charlotte for a conference, where I accepted an award for a project I did at work!

I spent an extended Labor Day weekend visiting my dad and stepmom in Indianapolis, and I absolutely love the city.  Here in the South, we get a lot of credit for Southern hospitality, but from my experience, people are so genuinely nice in the Midwest.  I can't wait to go back to Indy!

On Thursday night, I took a mini-road trip to Knoxville for a conference on Friday morning, and it was amazing.  I know some people don't get into conferences, but I love them. I cam home feeling refreshed, full of ideas, and a lot more confident in my networking skills because I took a course on how to network.  Haha.  (#introvertforever)

I have a couple of work trips planned for the coming months, and I look forward to sharing those experiences with you.

HEALTH  •  Now that the weather is cooling down, I've felt great.  I'm working really hard to adhere to a lifestyle of healthy eating.  It can be stressful at times, especially while traveling, but I'm trying to focus on adding things to my diet and think less about subtracting them.  I've been experimenting with quinoa, and I'm about to try a new vegan mac and cheese recipe.  I've gotten really into cold pressed juices (especially juices with turmeric).  I have a gym membership and a hot yoga membership (and lots of athleisure to go with my new lifestyle - LOL) .  Typing all of this out makes me feel like a different person, because before I got serious about my health, I lived off of bacon cheeseburgers.

READING  •  I have actually been reading, and it feels so good!  So far, I've checked off Eligible and My Not So Perfect Life.  I'm currently reading Rise & Shine and Remember Me?, and my next read is Can You Keep a Secret?.  I really love Sophie Kinsella's books, and I'm on a mission to read them all.  Haha.  If you're on Goodreads, let's connect!

SHOPPING  •  I have been doing a lot of shopping lately... Oops.  My favorite purchases have been this Skin Smoothie that makes my skin glow, new Nikes, and this tweed blazer.  (PS - If you've been following along with my belt saga, I finally found one. ... Two, actually!  And only $15 for both of them.)

WHAT'S NEXT  •  I'm so excited to get into the swing of blogging again.  I have a fun collaboration coming up with Marley Lilly!  I have access to some new photo equipment that I can't wait to play with.

On a personal level, I have some accomplishments that I'll be sharing soon.  I recently checked an item off of my bucket list, and also took a couple of leaps of faith.  I'm still kind of processing everything, and I'm in awe of the way that God continues to bless and provide.

Shew, that was a lot!  After all of that typing about myself, I want to hear from you.  Tell me what you've been up to in the past two months.  How's life?  What's on your fall bucket list?  Let's chat!

  1. This is so exciting! I love catching up with you! Isn't it crazy how God really pushes us to trust him in hard times? Right when i don't think I can take it anymore, he uses a loved one (or random stranger) to remind me he's there!
