Happy last day of February, y'all! Can you believe how quickly this year is flying by? I'm excited to take a moment and catch up with y'all for our monthly coffee date! I'm skipping the coffee this month & going for green tea with a drop of Thieves, because I can't seem to stay healthy with this changing weather. Anyone else dealing with that?
Watching • The Bachelor. I can't stop. My fantasy league was hanging in there by a thread, but now that Rachel has been announced as the Bachelorette, RIP to fantasy team Seersucker Sass. Did anyone else think Danielle M was going to go all the way?! Also, can I be best friends with Raven?
Traveling • If you read my newsletter, you know that I've gone to Nashville twice this month! My brother had a track meet in Nashville the weekend of my birthday, so we carried the birthday celebrations over for a few days. Watching my brother run is seriously one of my favorite things in this world, so combine that with good food and amazing shopping, and I couldn't have been happier.
On Wednesday, I was given the opportunity to go to Nashville on Thursday in a co-worker's place, and I jumped at the opportunity. It was a whirlwind, but I tried a few new restaurants and got to see some of my favorite people.
Preparing • For Lent tomorrow. Currently trying to figure out what is allowed when it comes to fasting and what isn't. In the month of February alone, I've given up carbonated drinks (except when I have a stomach ache... give me all of the ginger ale) and picking at my face, so I decided to take on a new, positive habit. I am going to join a gym! I've found one that's on my way home with a class schedule that actually works for me, and I couldn't be more excited.
This is also the time of year when I start getting more experimental with my fish recipes, so if you have any that you love, please send them my way! Otherwise, I will be eating tuna sandwiches for lunch and tilapia for dinner every week.
Buying • There will be full posts about this at some point this week, but I've been buying all of the It Cosmetics & Mario Badescu products lately. I also checked this beauty off of my splurge wishlist!
Celebrating • There has been so much celebrating this month, as Valentine's Day and my birthday hit in the same week + we took off to Nashville to celebrate my brother's indoor track accomplishments.
I am also looking at today as a major day of celebration. Six years ago today I was diagnosed with cancer. I will never, ever forget how terrifying that day was, having to call both of my parents separately to tell them that I had cancer, how my worries of passing exams suddenly felt so small and insignificant, and how my sorority little sister did everything in her power to turn that day around and keep me smiling. Today I'm going to lunch with my mentor, I'm wearing an outfit that makes me happy, and I'm smiling, because despite how challenging that experience was, it made me who I am today, and by God's grace, I made it through it. Having cancer at 20 was an experience that made me realize I can do anything I put my mind to, and I choose to use today to celebrate how far I've come in six years.
Learning • Y'all, I may not have been writing much, but I've been learning up a storm over here! I've been trying to take more webinars (both for blogging and work), I attended a conference last week, and I'm hoping to block time out on my schedule next month to really dig into Skillshare. (You can get three months of Premium for $0.99 if you sign up through my link.) I really like Skillshare because you can learn about literally anything on there, and the more I learn, the more confident I feel.
Skimming • Oh my gosh, y'all, I'm finally a Skimm'bassador! (This means I referred 10+ people to theSkimm, and you can totally be one too!) Watching the news stresses me out, but I like being informed, which is why I love theSkimm. Every weekday, I get a quick, easy to read and digest, non-partisan email about what has happened in the past 24 hours. If you like being informed, but watching the news gives you anxiety and/or raises your blood pressure, theSkimm is for you. (And for those of y'all who signed up through my referral link, thank you!! You're the best!)
Shew y'all, that was probably more about me than you ever wanted to know, so please take a moment to fill me in on your life! What's new?
