Daily Essentials

When I polled Twitter a couple of weeks ago about what y'all would most like to see on the blog, a "daily essentials" type of post was the winner.  So today, I'm excited to share with you the products that I use day in and day out.

Morning Skin Care  •  I don't like wearing face makeup, so I try to take really good care of my skin.  I start each morning by washing my face with CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser and moisturizing with Olay Regenerist Luminous Moisturizer.

Easy "Uniform"  •  I've really started to hone in on my personal style, and it has made getting ready for work so much easier in the morning.  I love dresses because they're so easy, but my "work uniform" in the cooler months is typically a loose silk blouse paired with dark, fitted pants, and a pair of either nude or black heels.  (I use a steamer each morning on my silk blouses, and there is something so therapeutic and relaxing about steaming them.)

Three Minute Face  •  After my face is moisturized and I'm wearing real clothes, I do a "three minute face." I start with a tinted brow gel to tame my brows. Since I don't wear much makeup, I like to have dramatic lashes. This lash primer is amazing, and I follow it with this mascara. (Lash tip - The primer dries quickly, so I apply primer then mascara to my left eye, primer then mascara to my right eye, and then apply a second coat to both eyes.) The last step is this lipstick, which is hydrating and gives you a really natural flush.

Quick Curls • I go to bed with wet hair (oops...), so in the morning I never really know what I'll wake up with. Some days I have awesome natural texture, and I just spray a little hair spray on it and let it do it's thing. Most of the time I curl it, just because curling takes me less time than straightening. For polished curls, I use a 1.5" curling iron, and I curl the hair away from my face. For waves that are a little more fun, I use a tapered curling wand, and curl away from my face. (I also leave about an inch out on the bottom when using a curling wand to give it a "piecey" look.)  Other hair care essentials - a wet brush, dry shampoo for second day hair, and hair spray that still allows movement.  (I love Aussie products because the smell reminds me of my mom fixing my hair every morning when I was a little girl.  I wish I had never outgrown that!  Haha)

Daily Accessories  •   The last step of my getting ready routine is to layer on my accessories for the day. I typically wear the same jewelry every day - sorority ring, dainty right hand ring, watch, stud earrings, and two Alex and Ani bracelets - an Armenian cross and a St. Francis bangle.

Lemon Water  •   The last thing I do before I leave is make my lemon water for the day. I'm addicted to Young Living Lemon Vitality Oil. To be really honest, I'm just lazy and don't enjoy chopping lemons every Sunday to last me for a week. I fill up my Kong tumbler with water, put three drops of oil, and I'm set until about lunch time when it's time to refill. The oil tastes just like having actual lemon slices in your water, and since I've started using this, I drink about three 26 oz Kongs full of water each day. (If you use the oil, be sure to use it in a metal tumbler. If you don't have a distributor and want to purchase the oil, you can order through me!)

Work day essentials  •  I start out every work day by sitting at my desk reading The Skimm.   It's a quick news briefing of what has happened in the world in the course of the last 24 hours, and it's just a really refreshing way to read the news.

I also use a diffuser in the office, and now that I've started using it, I don't know what I would do without it.  I typically diffuse three drops of RC oil, which is a eucalyptus blend and is supposed to help with breathing, but I'm convinced it helps me focus.  I use the diffuser first thing in the morning and when the 3 PM slump hits.

Other office essentials - I go through a ridiculous amount of yellow pads, brightly colored post-it notes, and a very specific pen.

Evening Hair Care •  I typically wash my hair at night because I love sleeping and washing my hair in the morning requires extra time away from my bed. This shampoo & this conditioner are my absolute favorites. I've tried so many other products, and I always come back to these because they making my hair soft and grow like crazy, you can buy them just about anywhere, and they're super affordable. When my ends start to look gross, I use this hair mask. I received it for free years ago, and I always come back to it.

Evening Skin Care  •  At night, I wash, moisturize, and then apply an eye cream (c/o).  I recently switched to this eye cream because I like the gel texture so much better than the cream I had been using, as it left my skin feeling and looking greasy.  When my skin needs a little extra TLC, I use this mask (c/o) or this liquid exfoliator (c/o), depending on how much time I feel like dedicating to skin care, as the mask takes a little bit of time and the exfoliator is meant to be used for 20 seconds!

Shew, that's a lot of stuff!  Haha.  I want to hear from you - What are your daily essentials?  Do we have anything in common?  Anything you think I should try?

Happy Thursday, y'all!

Please note that products marked (c/o) were gifted, typically in PR samples. I only talk about products that I love. Thank you for supporting brands that support Seersucker Sass!

  5. Ooh it was fun to read about the products you love daily. The silk bell sleeve top from Ann Taylor is so cute for the office. I also go to bed with wet hair so in the morning it's usually such a mess...thank goodness the curling wand tames it!

  25. LOOOOOVEEE this post! I’m not a huge makeup person, so I have a question! What does an eyelash primer do?! My eyelashes aren’t long anymore ugghhhh and I cannot find a mascara that works for me very well. Does a primer help with that, or what?
