Recent Purchases - Hits & Misses

Happy Tuesday, y'all!  I've been swamped with work travel and silent auction stuff (just gotta make it through Friday night!), but I've missed writing so I wanted to pop in and touch base.  With all of the craziness going on in my life, I've been doing a little more shopping than usual.  Today's post is about my recent purchases - hits, misses, and those in-between!  Happy shopping :)

neuEnvy Peptide Enhanced Mascara
I talk about this stuff a lot, but it has truly been amazing in this adventure of growing my eyelashes back post-eyelash extension nightmare.  I use it in conjunction with the neuLASH eyelash serum, and my lashes are longer than they've ever been.  If you like a mascara that's easy to remove but won't crumble and flake on you during the day, this is definitely worth trying out!  It's also great for layering.

Lazy Bones Pajamas
I ordered these from Asos because they were super cute, affordable, and festive.  Spoiler alert - they did not look like they did on the model.  I'm only 5'4, but when I put them on, they looked like I had shrunk them in the dryer.  Bonus bad - the shorts were basically Soffes.

Reading Glasses
If you've been following along with all of my eye problems (#lovely), you're aware that I had to get reading glasses.  At first I was really excited because reading glasses seemed chic, but because my prescription was so low, I had very limited choices.  I found these on Amazon for only $8, and they're Prime eligible!  They look a little cheaper than I would like for them to, but for something that was $8 and I only wear for a few hours a day, I'm pleased.

Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Primer
I used this product in high school and through the beginning of college, but for some reason stopped using a primer for awhile.  Dumb decision.  With my new acne routine, I've noticed that my skin looks better than ever, but a primer is a necessity, so I went back to my old faithful.  If you have oily skin or deal with uneven skintone, I highly reccomend this primer.

Confession - my best friend talked me into buying this dress when we went to Nashville for her birthday last month.  I typically dress pretty conservatively, but this dress was just so fun and unlike anything in my closet, so I caved and scooped it up.  I still haven't found an excuse to wear it, so I'm considering returning it.

When I went to Nashville in July to see Nicole, I splurged (or "invested in myself" as I prefer to call it) on a Gucci bag.  I couldn't bring myself to buy the wallet at the time of purchase, so I cut back on my spending and kicked my saving into high gear so that I could purchase it on my next trip to Nashville.  I haven't owned a wallet in years (I am so weird, I know), so it's amazing how much easier it is to keep up with my cards.  Who knew ;)

To Kill a Mockingbird
I went to a very rural, impoverished high school where required reading just wasn't a thing.  I've made it a personal goal of mine to read more classic literature, so I picked this up right before leaving for Cleveland.  I haven't finished it yet, but I'm looking forward to curling up on the couch on cooler evenings and reading it.  (And I'm welcoming suggestions for my next "classic" read!)

Wine & Cheese Tote
This is my first Christmas gift of the year!  My goal is to have all of my shopping knocked out by the first week in December so I can just breathe this year and truly enjoy the holidays.  When I go to Lake Keowee, we typically go on a "booze cruise" - an evening cocktail hour on the boat before dinner.  This is the perfect gift for that scenario, and it's half price right now!

I want to hear from y'all - What have you purchased recently?  Was it a hit or a miss?

  1. You should definitely look into "Rebecca" and Wuthering Heights. Jane Austen is still one of my favorite authors, and I love re-reading her pieces. 1985 is so good too! I love classic literature, so if you want anything else please let me know!

  4. As an Alabama girl, I'm loving that you're going to read To Kill a Mockingbird (it's one of my favorite books, ever!) You should read her other book Go Set a Watchman when you finish that one :) I also highly recommend Gone With the Wind if you haven't read it. I'm just a huge fan of Southern based literature!

  5. I'm super interested all of the Smashbox primers. I have their eye shadow primer (highly recommend if you have oily lids - it's a savior!). Also, I'm a huge classic American novel fanatic - I highly recommend Tom Sawyer or Huckleberry Finn. Okay, really I'm a huge Mark Twain fan (if you want to laugh read any of his speeches, he's a riot).

  7. To Kill A Mockingbird is one of my favorite books. The movie is amazing as well. The so called "sequel" which was not authorized by the author to be published called "go set a watchman" is not worth your time but TKAMB is amazing.

  9. Good for you for taking reading into your own hands! I too did something similar, except with Russian classic literature. As for American literature, I'd recommend A Great Gatsby, Pride and Prejudice, The Scarlett Letter, The Awakening...
