Summer Goals

Happy Wednesday, y'all!  Summer is officially here, even though it has felt like summer since April where I live.  Haha.  Something about summer makes me so lazy - maybe it's the heat or maybe it's the laid back pace of life.  In order to hold myself accountable, I've decided to share my goals for this summer with you!

1.  Prioritize time for writing.  I'm working on a personal writing project, but it is forever taking the back burner.  Reading The Best Yes instilled in me that when something is a priority, you need to schedule it the way that you would a meeting.  So I'm hoping to set aside time to write every day, even if it's just fifteen minutes before bed or half an hour on my lunch break.

2.  Keep a consistent blogging schedule.  I have really struggled with finding time to blog this year, and that makes me sad because I absolutely love blogging.  It seems like when I have time, I don't have motivation, and vice versa.  My goal is to get content up three times a week plus a weekend post.  I also hope to collaborate more with other bloggers.  (PS - You can totally help me out with this one by leaving blog post ideas!)

3.  Read.  I think that reading is imperative if you want to grow as a writer.  Here is my summer reading list!

4.  Create.  I really, really want to paint more.  I'm really interested in abstract expressionist art, and I'd love to create at least one piece for my apartment and another piece as a housewarming gift for a friend.  There's nothing like getting your hands dirty and creating something.

5. Evaluate my wardrobe.  The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is coming up, and I want to have a "wish list" ready to shop smarter.  This means checking to see what I have an abundance of in my closet (aka pixie pants) and figuring out what I actually need (navy heels, work blouses, a pair of everyday earrings, and a dress for a co-worker's wedding, for example.)  If you're not a Nordstrom Rewards member yet, be sure to sign up so that you can get a $10 promotional certificate to spend during the sale.

What are your goals for this summer?

  2. I love reading everyone's goals! I am working on blogging consistently too! So far so good this summer- I'm up to four posts each week :)

It's funny that you said you're lazier in the summer. I'm the exact opposite. The summer has me eating better and exercising more.

  6. These are great goals! Writing more has always been a goal of mine and I've kept a journal every day for as long as I can remember. I'm also doing the Q&A a day journal-it's great for sparking ideas!
Also, if you're interested in collabing I would love to-we could definitely brainstorm something up :)

  7. These are great goals for the summer and are similar to my personal goals as well. It's so easy to push blogging aside, especially in the summer when there's so much going on. I feel ya on those!

  9. These are such great goals! I definitely agree that it's easy to get lazy in the summer, so setting goals is such a good way to keep yourself on track and motivate yourself! Definitely can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve!

  11. Love these goals, mine are similar this summer, evaluating my wardrobe is a must, now that I am one year into the work life I feel like I need to retire some of my causal clothes and replace them with more work appropriate clothes. Also reading is high on my list!

  14. I love that so many of your summer goals revolve around creativity. You should share some of your paintings on your blog, I am not a painter so I am always super impressed by that form of creativity!

  18. Would it be weird to say that all of these are my goals too? I've definitely been trying to work on prioritizing my time for writing, and my blog schedule has been all out of whack so I'd like to get back to consistently posting. I've also been trying to listen to more audio books so that even if I can't sit down and read, I'm still able to get lost in a book. I've finished two audio books already this week and visited my library for the first time in forever to pick up a regular book. I just love reading. Good luck with all of your goals this summer!
