Small Business Saturday Spotlight

Yesterday I posted Black Friday deals, but today I want to talk to something that's near and dear to my heart... Small Business Saturday.  Before I started working in Economic Development, I worked in Small Business Development.  Talk about an eye opening experience!  I love Nordstrom, Sephora, and Amazon like the rest of y'all, but there's something special about shopping in a small business.  You get to know the people you're supporting, hear about their families, and see their passion.  To me, that's a beautiful thing.

Small Business Saturday Spotlight

I've compiled a list of small businesses I'm connected with in case you're looking for a shopping starting point, and at the bottom of this post, you'll find some gift ideas that are from small businesses.

Happy shopping!

Unconventional Ways to Promote Your Blog

Y'all, it feels so good to be back!  I went out of town to visit family, and I had no idea that not only would I have no internet access, but that I wouldn't even have cell service most of the trip.  #bloggernightmare  Thanks for your patience!

I'm so thankful for blogging.  The community is amazing, and I feel like there are so many great blogs out there!  But sometimes it can feel a little difficult to stand out or get noticed, especially around the holidays.  So I've brainstormed three "unconventional" ways to promote your blog, and I'm excited to share my secrets with you!

Unconventional Ways to Promote Your Blog

Blogger Cards ||  I know, you're probably saying this is super conventional.  But think about the way that you use your blogger business cards.  Most bloggers use them for conferences or when soliciting partnerships with small businesses, but what if you used them at networking events in your community?  Check out what your community offers, specifically events with professional women's groups, young professionals, and even events at your local Chamber of Commerce!  Talk about your blog like it's your business, and besides getting some new readers out of the deal, you may even get some partnerships out of it!

Stickers  ||  Stickers are awesome because you can put them just about anywhere and you can find them for just about any price point.  Buy a ton in bulk to share with your readers, buy just a few high quality stickers to slap on your laptop and share with close friends, or even print a few on glossy sticker paper to put on your notebooks.  I'm guilty of seeing a cute sticker somewhere and immediately looking up the brand because I want to know more. I can't be the only one!

Unconventional Ways to Promote Your Blog

Personalized Phone Case  ||  Confession - I still don't talk about my blog in public.  If someone asks me about it, I so will, but I rarely bring it up.  This is a habit that I'm majorly trying to break, which is why I decided to put my logo on the back of a phone case.  You'd be surprised at how many people see my phone case and ask me what Seersucker Sass is!  It's a really great opportunity to bring it into a conversation organically.  Skinit, the brand that so graciously gifted me this personalized phone case, offers personalized cases for pretty much any kind of phone or tablet, and also offers skins for laptops, tablets, and even gaming systems!  I've been so pleased with the quality of my phone case that I plan on picking up a matching laptop skin soon!

Unconventional Ways to Promote Your Blog

I know I'm not the only person with off the wall blog promotional ideas, so I want to know what some of the unconventional ways that you promote your blog are!  Any tips or suggestions for me?

Happy Tuesday, y'all!

A big thank you to Skinit (via Pollen-8) for providing me with a product in exchange for a review.  All opinions are my own.  Thanks for supporting brands that support Seersucker Sass!

Gift Guide: Beauty Junkie

I used to think it was crazy that bloggers did gift guides so early... I mean, it's not even Thanksgiving, right?!  And then I realized that not everyone is a major procrastinator like me, doesn't frantically Amazon Prime gifts in the week of Christmas, and might actually finish their shopping weeks before Christmas.  (If you are a major procrastinator like me, just pin these from later!)

I'm starting with a beauty gift guide because Amazon is having a crazy beauty sale right now - up to 25% beauty tools, 20% off beauty essentials, and 25% off fragrance!  Not to mention, all of the fun Sephora sets are out!  (Before my dad moved, he used to buy me a new Sephora set each year for Christmas!  Definitely got major "cool points.")

Christmas Gift Guide Beauty Products

You can click individual products in the photo :)

Essie Gel Setter  ||   Makeup Bag

So many of the products on the list above are products that I can personally vouch for!  The YSL lipstick is my absolute favorite, and I cannot say enough good things about the Josie Maran Argan products.  My grandma always got me a little Philosophy set for Christmas, so seeing them around Christmas time always makes me smile.  I hate when gift guides have ridiculously priced items, so most of the items tagged above are under $50, and some are even under $20!  Happy shopping!

Any gift guides y'all would like to see in the future?  Do you have any beauty goodies on your Christmas wish list?!

What to Wear: Casual Thanksgiving Ideas

With the exception of the two years I worked retail in college, Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays.  Each year, my mom would buy me a new sweater to wear to Thanksgiving dinner, and that tradition has stuck with me ever since no matter where I'm spending Thanksgiving.  This year, I'm spending Thanksgiving in Connecticut with my boyfriend and his family, so a sweater will be perfect since it's going to be cold!

Here are three outfits I've put together for y'all if you also have a casual Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

Look One - casual dress, fur vest, booties

You may recognize this look from this blog post!  I'm in love with this dress because it's comfortable.  It's not tight, so you're free to eat as much as you would like or help in the kitchen in it.  If you're looking to add some glamour to your look, it also matches this hat perfectly.

Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

Look Two - turtleneck, paperbag skirt, statement necklace or pearls, riding boots with boot socks

Turtlenecks are my new favorite thing.  I bought one Friday, wore it with jeans and a hat Sunday, and then recycled it to wear with pretty much the entire outfit above on Monday.

Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

Look Three - Boho dress & booties

I am really loving all of the 70's influences on fall fashion!  I love bohemian dresses because they're loose and flowy aka comfy when you are eating lots of turkey and dressing.  The fringe boots I've picked out are so fun!  I have no idea when I would be able to wear them, but they are definitely on my wishlist.

What are your Thanksgiving plans this year?  Do you usually go super casual, casual enough to be comfy, or do you get all dressed up?

Happy Tuesday, y'all!

Weekend Reading

weekend reading

How to:
Good morning, y'all!  It's been awhile since I posted one of these, but I'm happy to be back in the swing of things.  With all of the sad things going on in the world right now, I'm thankful for a quiet weekend with my boyfriend and our pup.  We took a long walk this morning and just enjoyed each other's company.

What are your plans for the weekend?  Did you read something awesome this week?  Leave the link in the comments!

PS - I went to Charming Charlie yesterday, and they had some awesome fall arrivals.  (So many of the goodies reminded me of Scream Queens!)  I picked up this hat, this $10 navy turtleneck for layering, and a .99 notebook!  They have an amazing coupon on Retail Me Not right now - $10 off your purchase of $35, so I got all of my goodies for $28 :)  Here are some things I loved but didn't leave with.

Mascara Madness

My boyfriend and I took a little daytrip to Asheville this weekend so that I could find a dress for my cousin's wedding.  Three minutes into the drive, we go around the corner, and my makeup bag spills all over the floorboard.  My boyfriend has a brilliant idea - Why don't I just zip my makeup bag up?  Well, I couldn't because I'm a cosmetics hoarder.  Y'all, I had an embarrassing number of old mascaras in there.  No need to worry - I don't use them;  I just carry them around.  So today I'm going to share brief reviews of them with y'all, as well as some reviews from my blogger besties!

Mascara Review Roundup

Almay One Coat Lengthening Mascara ||  After my beautiful allergic reaction a few weeks ago, I've been researching products that are awesome for sensitive skin and actually work.  This article said great things about Almay One Coat Mascaras, so I gave it a try.  I started using it Sunday, and I'm the type of person that doesn't really know if they like a mascara until they use like half of the tube.  So far, I'm underwhelmed by it, but it doesn't bother my eyes, so that's a plus!  Instead of rebuying, I will probably check out this mascara on the list.

Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara (c/o) ||  This is definitely one of my favorite mascaras, as reminds me of Chanel's Inimitable, but is half the price!  I would probably still be using this if my Mary Kay lady hadn't flaked on me.  It's easy on my sensitive eyes, and you don't have to scrub it off.  (full review here)

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara ||  I loved Roller Lash!  Despite being difficult to remove, it made my lashes look amazing.  The cost of this one is kind of a downside, which is why I didn't repurchase.  (full review here)

YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Mascara (c/o) ||  I was kind of in and out of love with this mascara, but the more I used it, the more I started to fall in love with it.  The only thing that I didn't love was how clumpy it got, but the more I used it, the less I had that issue.  I have been seriously reconsidering ordering more of this!  (full review here)

Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara ||  This one is really similar to Lash Love, and I really liked it!  I don't usually purchase the same mascara two times in a row, especially with drugstore mascara, but I did with this one!  (full review here)

Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara (Waterproof) || I hate waterproof mascara.  Hate it.  My favorite blogger, Katey McFarlan, referred to glitter nail polish as Satan's manicure, and if that's the case, then this must be his mascara.  I ended up with this because I paid my Mary Kay lady for my products, then she realized she didn't have the regular kind.  It was a nightmare to remove, and I doubt I even used half a bottle before buying something else.

ULTA Amped Lashes Mascara ||  I won this on a blog giveaway right around the time I ran out of a different mascara.  The result was nothing dramatic, but it did the trick of separating my lashes.

CoverGirl The Super Sizer Mascara (not pictured) ||  This stuff is a nightmare.  It made my lashes look so bad that I wanted to sob.  Luckily, I was able to use the brush from Amped Lashes to salvage the mascara that was already on my lashes.  I returned it the next day.

Bonus:  L'Oreal Lash Serum ||  I went through a really stressful period where I lost my eyelashes.  They were falling out in clumps, and I was so insecure about it.  This stuff was amazing.  I saw results within two weeks. The only downside was that it really dried my eyes out.  Because of that, I didn't buy more when I ran out.

I'm not a mascara expert, and while I would love to try every mascara in existence, it really isn't possible.  So I've teamed up with some of my blogger besties to share their mascara experiences, as well!

I want to hear from you - What's your favorite mascara?  Anything you absolutely would not recommend?

PS - Happy Friday, y'all!  We made it!

I received a few of the products in this post for free through partnerships; they are denoted c/o.  All opinions are my own.

Wednesday Wisdom: Life Lessons from a Veteran

Today's post is something a little different - it's not about fashion or beauty reviews.  Today's post is a tribute to my favorite veteran and the lessons that I learned from him.

My Grandpa spent the majority of his adult life in the military, serving in both Korea and Vietnam, and eventually deciding the Army was his career calling.  I feel so blessed to have grown up listening to stories about his best friend Sarge, white haired gorillas he encountered overseas, and other war stories of the sort.  My Grandpa had a knack for telling stories, and even though he repeated them sometimes, he would draw you in so much that you still needed to hear the ending.  My grandpa loved God, his country, his wife, and his family.  He was a great American, and I'm so fortunate for the time we were able to spend together.  Here are five lessons that I learned from my Grandfather:

Stay calm under pressure.  My grandfather was an EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Specialist; his job was to take apart bombs, defuse explosives, and things of that nature.  There have been so many times in my life where I've been freaking out (like when I had to have tests run on my lymph nodes or even this morning when I had to give a presentation on social media to our board, elected officials, and the media) and reminded myself - My grandfather took apart bombs.  I think I can handle this.  It's great for putting something minor in perspective or channeling the energy I need to get myself through something major.

Find a passion.  Visiting my grandpa was always such a treat because his home and garden were beautiful.  He was passionate about working in his garden, preparing delicious Southern meals, and creating things with wood.  His eyes absolutely lit up when he was in his garden, and he always enjoyed telling me about things in his home that he had made.  I've never liked tomatoes, but I always delighted in taking a bag of his homegrown tomatoes home to my mom.

Fight like hell.  My grandfather had multiple cancer battles throughout his life.  The summer before my junior year of college, I got the call that he had been hospitalized.  They thought his cancer was back, and he didn't really want to go through chemo and radiation again.  The day that my grandfather passed, I spent the morning with him, then went to work and he went to his doctor's appointment, where he scheduled his chemo and radiation.  My grandfather wasn't going to leave this world without a fight, and I admire that so much about him.

The good should always outweigh the bad.  I never spent much time alone with my Grandpa until the last year of his life.  When I went to visit him in the hospital, it was just me - my grandmother Katherine was taking care of her mother, my dad hadn't made it into town yet, and my mom stayed in the car with my brother. My grandpa was so candid with me and told me things about his life that I never knew.  The comment that really stuck with me was that he knew he had done a lot of "bad" things in his life, and that we're human and we all do, but that he had also done a lot of good things in his life, more good than bad, and that we should always focus on the good things and strive to be good people.

At the end of your life, you want weathered hands.  My grandfather was holding my hand at the hospital, and I made a comment about how bony my hands were due to my infusions.  (I prefer getting IVs in my hands because getting them in my arm freaks me out.)  He assured me that at the end of your life, you want your hands to be weathered.  It's okay if they're bony, rough, or not pretty in the least bit, because that means you've experienced life, you've worked hard, and you've gotten your hands dirty.  When you think about what you've done to get where you are, weathered hands don't seem so bad.

Thank y'all for taking the time to read my tribute to my grandpa.  Do you have a special veteran in your life?  Don't forget to thank a veteran for their service today!

Fun with Fran and Fur & Collar

I usually save all Francis related posts for Franny Fridays, but I'm way too excited about this post to wait that long!  This weekend, Francis and I took a little trip to the local dog park.  Because of Daylight Saving Time, it's usually almost dark when I get home from work.  This has put a damper on our super long walks, so the dog park has been our saving grace on weekends... There is nothing quite like a beagle with too much pent up energy!

Francis and I enjoy pretty much any opportunity to be festive, and this trip to the dog park is no exception.  She wore her brand new (and much too small) sweater that I picked up for $3 from Bullseye's Playground, formerly known as Target's Dollar Spot.  I wore my Resuce tee from Fur & Collar!  If you're unfamiliar with Fur & Collar, they carry breed specific apparel for dog lovers.  The t-shirts are a fun, non-cheesy way to show the world that you're obsessed with your dog!  #noshame   I love when my purchases support a good cause, and 50% of the profits from the "Rescue" t-shirt that I'm rocking go to pet adoption charities.  Isn't it awesome when fashion allows you to wear your heart on your sleeve?!  (PS - Isn't it equally awesome when fashion is comfy?  These are soooo comfy.)

Did you notice the background in my photos?  As bloggers, we're programmed to only shoot in pretty locations, and if there's a dumpster in the background of you photo, it's definitely a no go.  However, I wanted to show y'all just how neat the dog park in my city is!  We're going through a phase of urban renewal, and I'm loving it.  This little patch of sod was planted in our downtown, surrounded by concrete, businesses, and parking lots.  I feel so fortunate that we have somewhere like this that I can take Francis to let her off of her leash.

Also, Francis and I are currently battling it out over who is the "alpha female" of the apartment.  She has slept in my spot in bed for the past week, refused to play with me at the dog park, and growled when I tried to take her sweater off before bed.  #divadog

I'd love for you to tell me about your fur baby in the comments!  Does Fur & Collar carry a shirt for your favorite breed?  Happy Tuesday, y'all!

PS - As promised, here are the (unintentional) Hotline Bling photos... Somewhere, my hip hop dance teacher from middle school is shaking her head.

A big thank you to Fur & Collar for providing me with such a cute and comfortable t-shirt.  All opinions are my own.  Thanks for supporting brands that support Seersucker Sass!

What It's *Really* Like: A Day in the Life of a Marketing Coordinator

Last week we covered the topic of my most received question - infusions.  So today I thought I would write about the second most received question - what my job is like!  I left my first post-grad job back in June, and I'm finally starting to acclimate to my new office environment.  I've gone from 25 co-workers to three, working with almost all women to being the only woman, from two interns to needed an intern like yesterday, and from a building in the heart of downtown to a building in the middle of an industrial park.  Regardless, #lifeisgood.  The biggest adaptation has been realizing that the same job title two different places can mean two different things.  Wow wow wow, my duties are so different in comparison to my last post like this!

A Day in the Life of a Marketing Coordinator

Here is the scoop on what my day is like as a marketing coordinator in the economic development field (and as a part-time blogger!)

6:40 AM | Start my day - brush my teeth with whitening products to balance out all of the coffee and Diet Coke I consume,  wash and moisturize my face, put on the outfit I laid out the night before, do something with my hair, and apply a five minute face of makeup.  (I always pack my makeup bag just in case, though!)

7:30 AM | Commute - usually flip through all of my radio stations five times each before giving up and having a Sam Hunt dance party.  Sometimes I go through drive thru at Chick-Fil-A or Pal's (a local fast food restaurant) before work, depending on my appetite

8:00 AM | Settle in at my desk to enjoy the breakfast I picked up or enjoy a breakfast bar and a cup of green tea with one Splenda.  My work emails don't come to my phone, so I check the abundance of emails while I enjoy my breakfast.  The last email I always check is The Skimm.  After reading the emails, I update my Trello boards with tasks that need to be done relating to the emails.  I recently switched over to Trello from paper to-do lists because they just got so long and unmanageable.

8:40 AM | Scan the local papers and news stations online for anything relevant to my company that may have been released in the past 24 hours.  It's usually hit or miss - some days I'll find four really good articles, other times I'll go two weeks without anything that needs to be shared.  I link to the relevant info on our website and social media.

9:00 AM | My boss recently put me completely in charge of our print ads, so I like to look at them around 9 because I feel like my brain is fully awake and not exhausted yet.  I mark up my changes, then send them back to our graphic designer.

9:30 AM | Before getting into another task, I usually proofread my blog post for the day.  My previous boss taught me that looking at something with fresh eyes is so helpful, and I agree.  I take a few 15 minute breaks like this throughout the day, because I'm a firm believer that breaks stop you from getting burnt out.

9:45 AM | I complete a filler admin task like paying a bill online or sending out a meeting reminder.

10:00 AM | Staff Meeting - we have lots of these, and they're helpful since we're a small office and pretty much each little "program" is a one person show.  We give an update on what we're working on, tell each other what we need from each other, and are given new assignments.

10:45 AM | I feel like we have lots of 11 am meetings here.  I usually greet the guests and offer them coffee.  Sometimes someone will comment on how good I am at making coffee, and I'll say, "Thanks, that's why they hired me!"  After everyone is settled, I usually work on stuff I was assigned during the staff meeting while it's still fresh on my mind, especially as we're preparing to make a big announcement!  This is also the time that I take conference calls.  Our office is out in the middle of nowhere, so I do lots of calls to avoid losing an hour of my work day driving.  Today's call is about working with a local agency to create a video.

12:00 PM | I take another quick break to be sure that my scheduled posts have gone through and are linked properly, then I draft up my blog Facebook post.  It's the one thing that I don't pre-schedule, because the graphics don't cooperate.

12:15 PM | Between 12:15 and 1 PM, I try to knock out as much administrative work as possible while the office is quiet and I'm here alone.

1:00 PM | Heat up my lunch, enjoy it at my desk, and delve into my Trello boards.  I usually like to do my major projects in the afternoon, because I can work on them with limited interruptions.  I'm currently working on a social media presentation for our board so that I can explain why we use social media, what we use, and what we're exploring to use in the future.  Prezi is totally new to me, but I love it so much more than Power Point.

2:45 PM |  Choose a company holiday card.  When counting all of the people that they needed to be sent to from old lists, I realize the lists overlap.  So I spend a chunk of my afternoon trying to clear that up.

3:45 PM |  Receive new drafts from our graphic designer and compare them to our old drafts.  Submit changes and pray that she doesn't hate me, because I feel so mean when I give feedback.

4:30 PM |  Prepare everything for the next day.  I usually clean my desk up, re-organize my Trello boards, and sort through the mountain of Post-It notes that has accumulated on my desk.  I always end my day by checking over the analytics for our website and check our Facebook stats.

5:05 PM |  Race out the door.  Most days aren't "mine" after work - I end up attending a meeting for an organization I'm involved, an event, or the occasional girl's night out!  On days that are "mine" after work, I pick up a burrito bowl on my way home, then hang out with my boyfriend and Francis for a little bit before I throw on some pajamas and start blogging.  (I try to take my photos on weekends so that I can just focus on content creation during the week.)  I try to make a little bit of time to work through Helene's e-courses that I purchased - Quit Your Job to Blog and Instagram for Success.  Instagram is the trickiest form of social media for me, because I forever feel like I gain one follower and lose two.

9:00 PM |  Pick out an outfit and accessories for the next day, then shower.  I lost a good amount of hair to chemo pills, and when it grew back, it had this awesome, wavy texture.  I usually go to bed with wet hair so that it can air dry to it's fullest texture potential.

10:00 PM |  Curl up in bed with Francis and prepare to do it all over again tomorrow :)

Voila!  There you have it - a busy day in my very exciting (lolol) life! What is your job title?  What's your day like?  I would love to know more about how you spend your 8-5 :)

Happy Monday, y'all!  Be sure to come back tomorrow, because I have an awesome collaboration in the works.  (I also look like I'm doing the Hotline Bling dance in the photos, so that alone makes it worth visiting in my opinion.)

Anniversary Gift Ideas for Men

My boyfriend and I celebrate our two year anniversary today!  He doesn't really enjoy being #ontheblog, so today's post will instead be centered around the biggest challenge that comes along with an anniversary - gift giving.  We don't usually shower each other with lavish gifts, but instead with small thoughtful or practical gifts.  All of the gifts in this post are under $100 and could easily be used as Christmas gift ideas, as well!

anniversary gift ideas for men

Sock of the Month Subscription ||  My boyfriend loves wearing a suit to work every day.  If you think I'm well-dressed, you should see him.  It's unfair.  He absolutely loves funky socks, and this subscription service is much cooler than me just handing him three pairs at once and calling it a day.

Upgraded Duffle Bag ||  With family spaced out everywhere, we travel a lot.  This duffle bag is such a cool upgrade from the polyester version that I feel like every 20-something man still hasn't parted with yet.

Patagonia Fleece Zip Vest ||  One of our favorite activities is taking our dog to a local nature conservatory.  It's usually chillier there because of the altitude, so this vest is perfect for a little extra warmth. With temperatures dropping a little bit each day, this is a good gift to gear up for cooler temps, and makes a great gift during the fall, winter, and even early spring.

Thermos ||  My boyfriend is forever walking off with my travel mugs.  Solution?  Get him a super masculine one!  This one will keep his coffee warm for five hours!

Book ||  If your man loves learning, pick up a book for him on one of his favorite topics. My boyfriend is fascinated by war and the military, so I could totally see him loving this book.  For our first Christmas together, I bought him some silly Duck Dynasty books, and they were a hit.

Gift Card ||  There are restaurants my boyfriend and I usually don't go together.  For example, there's a wine bar in town that I only go to on GNOs.  There are places he goes to so much during the week for lunch that we never eat there together on weekends or evenings.  Those are the kind of places you want to get a gift card to!  Something simple like a $20 gift card to his favorite lunch spot or $10 to the coffee shop that he stops at on the way to work are an easy way to brighten his day and make him think of you.  This is also an awesome option if you're in an LDR and want to have a gift arrive on his actual birthday!

Lab Cocktail Set ||  How cool is this?!  My boyfriend isn't into science, but this is such a fun gift for a boyfriend who is.  (I kind of want this for my bar cart area, and I took all "intro for non-majors" science classes in college. Haha)

Thoughtful gifts under $5 ||  Use your talents to come up with something that's both thoughtful and affordable!
  • Are you Crafty?  Peruse Pinterest for a handmade craft idea like the $1 deck of cards being made into "52 Things I Love About You" or putting a photo on canvas or wood (you might already have the supplies necessary in your craft box!)
  • Good with words?  Write a sweet letter or homemade card.  Fill a notebook with your favorite memories!
  • Awesome in the kitchen?  Whip up some cupcakes or whatever yumminess you already have the supplies for in your kitchen.

What's your go-to gift for an anniversary or for a special occasion?  Am I the only one who finds it difficult to shop for men?!

Happy Wednesday!

November Goals

I've had the #MakeYourMonth Link Up on my calendar for a month now!  The holidays are such a busy time in my life, and I thought this would be a great exercise to sit down and think about what I need to do this month.  Last night I realized that the linkup is non-existent now, but in the nature of sticking to my editorial calendar, I'm still going to share my goals for the month.

November Goals

Watch my language.  I wish I could say that I always use polite words and curse words never leave my mouth, but that would be a fib.  It has always been a bad habit, but I feel like it has gotten worse now that I work in an all male environment, because they are totally not judgmental when I speak without a filter.

Devote more time to God.  I don't intentionally skip out on spending time with The Lord.  My evening will be a whirlwind, and before I know it, it's 9 pm, I need to shower for the next day, and I realize I haven't spent anytime just meditating and praying.  I hope that I'll spend more time this month really focusing on the Lord, even if it means I have less time to "watch my shows" or create content.

Put more effort into my appearance.  With the nature of my job, I would be so proud of myself if I looked camera ready every day.  This is even more difficult since my hair is impossibly long again.  My goal is to pick an outfit out each night, actually wake up with my second alarm, and put on at least a smidge of makeup every day.

Get cracking on the blog courses I'm registered for.  I love learning!  I'm currently working to make my blog the best it can be, so I registered for Helene in Between's courses - Quit Your Job to Blog and Instagram for Success.  I'm hoping to set aside a couple of hours a week to solely focus on these courses!

Cook more often.  Y'all, I'm the worst girlfriend when it comes to cooking.  My boyfriend would have home cooked meals every night if it was a feasibility, but I just do not enjoy cooking.  (Again, I totally think it's a time thing.)  This weekend, we pinned some recipes, so I'm going to try to take some initiative and meal plan for us so that we can enjoy some time in the kitchen together, especially with our anniversary this week.

Save as much money as possible.  I'm taking two weekend trips to New York this month - one for a wedding and one for Thanksgiving - so I'm hoping to save as much money as possible to have a little extra spend money for my trips!

Focus on using gentle products for skin and hair care.  I had an allergic reaction last week, and it sucked.  I had a really bad breakout, and something that I used to treat it caused my skin and scalp to react.  I ended up buying all new skincare this weekend, and I'm planning to slowly transition to makeup that isn't so harsh as I run out of products.

What about YOU?  What are your goals for November?
