How to Start Your Week off Right!

I know what you're thinking - It's Friday!  The week is over!  True, but if I had given you these tips on Monday, how helpful would they have been?!

Raise your hand if this is how you feel in the morning, especially on Monday mornings?  *Raises both hands & all four of Franny's paws*  I totally get it!  So I'm sharing a few things I try to implement to make Mondays a little easier on myself.

Put gas in your car.  This sounds silly, but how many times have you overslept on Monday morning only to realize that you have 12 miles to empty?  Do yourself a favor and fuel up at some point during the weekend!  Your Monday morning self will thank you.

Plan your outfit for Monday.  I'm really good at oversleeping.  I hit snooze about six times before I get out of bed.  Every night before I shower, I try to plan my outfit for the next day.  I put it on a sparkly hanger, and hang it in the bathroom so that the steam can loosen up any wrinkles while I'm showering.  I get ready in the bathroom so that I'll avoid jumping back into bed, so this also helps with that problem.  (Bonus points if your outfit is cute and comfy!)

Take a long, luxurious shower.  I believe in self pampering, and Sundays are my night to do that.  I take a long shower, scrub my hair to get all of the dry shampoo remnants out, and sometimes I even soak in the tub for a bit with some candles lit.  Morning showers are always so rushed, so taking a nice long shower in the evening is one of my favorite things to do.

Lay out your breakfast.  I'm trying to avoid my morning Chick-Fil-A runs.  They're delicious, but horrible for my wallet and waistline, so I give myself one a week.  On other days, I lay out my breakfast the night before.  I love Natural Balance Foods Fruit and Nut Bars.  Their sample boxes are a great way to figure out which bars are your favorites.  I usually lay a couple out on my stove so that I can choose in the morning, along with a hot tea bag.  (Sometimes I grab an extra to have as a snack!)  I can't focus when I don't eat breakfast, so having something quick and nutritious like this is perfect!  (Warning - order extra because everyone in your family/your significant other will probably take them too!  I learned this the hard way!  Apple is my favorite, so save that one for yourself :) )

A little organization goes a long way.  If you know you're going to need something on Monday morning, pack it up and set it by the door.  If you know you always lose your deodorant when you're trying to get ready, set it out on the counter.  Always looking for earrings?  Set them on your dresser.  A little organization and preparation goes a long way.

Spend the hour before bed doing something for yourself.  Read, do yoga, study your devotional, blog, enjoy a glass of wine - do something that you enjoy!  Take time to unwind and leave the stress of the past week behind.

Dry shampoo is your friend!  On Monday mornings, the last thing that I want to do is blow dry and attempt to fix my hair.  I use a ton of dry shampoo, and then let my hair's natural texture decide what my hair's going to look like.  I'll usually either pin it out of my face in a best case scenario or side fishtail it.

  12. I'm terrible in the morning, I press snooze about 6 times too and can't ever get up! The gas tip is amazing, I've lost count of the amount of times I have to stop on the way!
