SS Shops Small

I cannot lie.  Today's post was inspired by two things - Jenny's post yesterday about her favorite places to shop online and a text I received from one of my best friends, Cori, a small business owner.

I know I share a lot of links to chain retail stores, but I shop small whenever possible!  Before switching over to working in economic development, I worked in small business development, and I was so passionate about it.  It's a passion that has carried over into my blog, and this month I am even starting a "Follow Your Arrow" series to focus on entrepreneurial women.

Here are some of my faves:

- Bella Vida Accessories -

If you've ever noticed the gorgeous bangles that I wear in a lot of my fashion posts (see here, here, and here for starters), they're from Bella Vida Accessories. I've been so lucky to get to know the shop's owner, Berlynn, and I consider her to be a dear friend.  It's always so special to me when I get to wear a piece of jewelry that I know one of  my friends has made!  The quality is excellent, which is important to me because I am rough on my jewelry.  We are also cooking up a little surprise for y'all in the next few weeks, so stay tuned ;)

- Kiss My Southern Sass -

With catchphrases like "Pretty in pink and ready to drink" and "Southern belle raisin' hell," Kiss My Southern Sass is my kind of brand!  KMSS was one of the first brands to work with me when I started my blog, and I have felt a strong tie to them ever since.  (The photo shoot I did in their spirit jersey is still my favorite shoot ever.)  If you're Southern and unapologetically sassy, you've got to check them out!

- Mimi Mae Boutique -

It's really cool when you get to watch you friends' dreams come true, which is why I love Mimi Mae so much.  My friend Cori named her boutique after two of the most influential women in her life - her mom Michelle (Mimi) and her daughter, Sophie Mae.  Shopping where I live can be kind of hit or miss, but Cori brings in pieces that are not only unique, but also affordable.  If you remember my adorable seersucker vest, it's from Mimi Mae!

- Monograms Markings and More -

If you happened to catch the adorable little bikini top on my instagram this week, that was from Monograms Markings and More!  I love MMM because they consistently provide quality products and over the top amazing customer service.  (I'm casually obsessed with their employee Britney.)  Not only can they monogram anything your little monogram loving heart desires, but they sell absolutely adorable non-monogrammed clothing, as well.

- The Preppy Pair -

I have soooo much love for The Preppy Pair.  I modeled one of their adorable monogrammed t-shirts last fall, and I can't say enough nice things about the quality of their products.  What I love about every shop in this post is that they make you feel like family, and their owner Jodi is no exception.  Monogram habits can get expensive, and I love that The Preppy Pair offers a "deal of the week!"  (I'm also really excited because my best friend ordered her bridesmaid gifts from here.  Just one more thing that will make her day extra special!)  Jodi has graciously offered to give y'all 15% off... Just use the code "SeersuckerSass15" at checkout!

- Purple Peridot -

It's no secret around here that I'm obsessed with tassels, especially my blue tassel necklace.  It's also no secret that tassel jewelry can get extra expensive extra fast.  I was so happy when I discovered Purple Peridot, because their pieces are super affordable, and there's a flat shipping rate of .99 a piece!  They also send out an email every day with a deal, which is what I like to blame credit for my ever expanding tassel collection.  They have been really kind to offer my readers a 10% discount with the code "Seersucker10."

What do y'all think - any boutiques that you just have to check out?!  I'd love to hear about your favorite boutiques in the comments!

Happy Friday, y'all! TGIF!

XX,

SS

Please note that this is not a sponsored post, simply a recap of a few of the brands I enjoy shopping with.  No product or compensation was traded in exchange for this post, and my discount code to Purple Peridot is just that - a discount code.

  1. I love that you support small businesses as well! I have an entrepreneurial mindset (hoping to own my own business in the future), so I definitely realize what buying small can do for a company. And I'm in love with KMSS!

    1. Thank you!! The tassel necklaces are actually closer to $10-20 each, but the shipping is 99cents! It makes me so sad when I see something at a great deal, and then the shipping is almost as high as the item! Xo

I love shopping small because there are so, so many amazing businesses, designers, companies, inventors etc out there that don't always get enough recognition, or they make super awesome products so hello why not! I've heard of a few on your list (KMSS and Purple Periodot) but can't wait to check out the others!
