Weekend Recap // Lilly for Target // Palm Village Knoxville

This was another weekend where I planned to take lots of photos, but real life outweighed blog life!  (Such a blessing!)  I don't usually do weekend recaps, but this weekend was a little unusual and actually newsworthy!  It may seem a little rambly, so I bolded the high points for you ;)

Friday was supposed to be a cleaning party after work, but my boyfriend surprised me by changing things up at the last minute... and we went to look at rings!  After multiple trips to chain stores, we went to a local family owned store and had the most amazing, relaxing, and educational experience I could have ever asked for.  If you're looking to purchase a ring in East Tennessee, please shoot me an email because I would love to give you their information!

Saturday was one of those days where I had planned on sleeping in, but instead got up early and went to do a little apartment shopping.  Since deciding to stay in my one bedroom, I'm concentrating on really making it feel like home.  My boyfriend picked up a toaster, and I picked up some throw pillows to go with the new nautical theme of the bedroom.

That afternoon, we had a little putt putt date!  I was much better at putt putt than I remembered, and only lost by two strokes!  There's a local place not far from my apartment, and I can't wait to go on more dates there this summer.  Nothing better than a little competition & supporting a small, family owned business at the same time ;)

Saturday night was one of the most mortifying nights of my life.  I had to leave a restaurant because my boyfriend (who is almost 23) was accused of having a fake ID.  The way we were treated was all around inappropriate.  I like to give myself a goal to keep in mind every week because I feel like repetitively doing something will make it a habit.  Because of this, my goal for this week is not to slack on giving exceptional customer service!  Some days I get exhausted answering questions that could easily be googled or that are answered earlier on in an email chain, but my goal for this week is to be extra patient and positive, even when I don't feel like it.

Sunday morning was what I expected to by my redeeming day of the weekend since Saturday night was such a mess.  I got to target about thirty minutes early and waited in line in the pouring rain because I was so excited about Lilly for Target.  Y'all, it didn't take sixty seconds for everything to be gone at my local Target.  Women were being aggressive, elbowing people, and yanking things out of each others hands.  It was absolutely disgusting.  Like I imagine Lilly was probably looking down on everything going on with her eyes covered.  I tried waiting for people to come out of the dressing rooms to return things to the racks, but everyone was buying everything.  (Probably to sell on eBay at a trillion percent mark up... Jackasses.)  Needless to say, I will not be buying any $60 packs of bobby pins on eBay, and I hope that you won't either.  (I can't even keep up with the 100 pack of pins that I buy for like $3.)

My boyfriend accompanied me to Target and could tell that I was a little bummed.  I had been really excited about this, but there were bigger things to worry about in the world, so I figured I'd go home, nap, and then clean my apartment really good.  Nope.  C decides that we're going to take a daytrip to Knoxville, go to the Lilly store there, and he's going to get me a new dress.  Y'all, I was floored.  We live very modestly. and to be honest, most of the cool things that I get are because of this blog or from my mom on holidays.  My rent takes up about 30% of my income, and we both put money away each month for me to live off of when I go to law school.

In Knoxville, we went to Lilly Pulitzer Palm Village, and I had the BEST experience.  The ladies that worked there were so sweet and attentive.  It was, hands down, my best Lilly shopping experience ever!  After trying on ten different dresses (including the crop top set!) I selected the Janice shift dress in Navy!  I was silly and forgot my gift card, so I'm going to go back before the wedding in June to pick up this dress!

If you read all of that (or any of that) you deserve a prize!  So... how was your weekend?  Any luck shopping Lilly for Target?  Do you have a favorite Lilly store?

Happy Monday, y'all!

XX,

SS

Note:  This is not a sponsored post, just needed to brag on some exceptional customer service that I have received this week :)

P.S. - My posts may start to become a little less frequent... I'm a little over 6 weeks away from the LSAT, so I'm kicking studying into high gear!  Prayers and positive vibes appreciated :)

  1. Oh my gosh, your boyfriend is way too sweet!
I'm sorry you weren't able to snag anything from the sale.
I got a lot because of Brittany and her online mobile sneak links she found. (Thanks Britt)

Good luck on the LSAT. My best friend is in law school right now and she thoroughly enjoys it so I hope you do too.

And thank you! I'm nervous, but I know if I don't go for it, I will spend my whole life asking "What if?"

Hope you're having a great weekend, Jenny! I should have your canvas in the mail on Monday :) Xo

  2. It's so funny, I was just reading about Lilly Pulitzer somewhere, she has an interesting story, but I'd never heard of the brand before. I don't even know if we have the Lilly prints in the UK!

  4. Wow- what a weekend that you had! Your poor boyfriend for getting asked to leave the restaurant! That is just horrible (and horrible too because I know of so many places near my college that don't even check for ACTUAL fake IDs... disgusting). I am so with you on quality customer service. I actually had to call the manager of a restaurant in my hometown last summer after a group of my high school friends went to dinner and I was treated very rudely by the waiter! And then when I called the manager... he got defensive and spoke up for the waiter? Ugh. Haha. (But sadly I still eat there when I'm home because the food is amazing ;-)..... but I always tip low now if it's bad service.)

Sorry for my novel of a comment! But I loved this post! Good luck starting your studying!! And glad your Lilly story had a happy ending. :-)

  6. Oh my gosh, your boyfriend is SO sweet! That is the most adorable thing ever! Little acts of kindness really make life that much better. :) Those people who were rude... they'll get their karma! But you took the high road. Amazing. And you are so sweet. I can tell through your writing! So happy you were able to end the weekend nicely. :)

  9. Oh my goodness! What a fiasco for you and your boyfriend! I had something very similar happen a few weeks after I turned 21. They confiscated my ID and would not give it back. I called the police, who came to retrieve my ID and make the restaurant GM feel like a complete idiot, because it was indeed my real ID! I'm sorry you guys had to deal with that!

  10. How exciting is it that y'all went to look for rings! My fiance' & I went to a locally/family owned jewelry store to pick ours out & they were fantastic. My fiance' loves that they have a little more bargaining room on their prices as well ;)

  13. I can't believe how CRAZY and terrifying people acted towards Lilly for target, and I thought sometimes black friday was bad. How sweet of your boyfriend to take you to get a dress regardless, I love the janice shift... it's my favorite Lilly :) Have a wonderful week!

  14. I was so disappointed about how things went down in Target concerning the Lily thing. I didn't get not one single item, and some of the ladies was buying multiply of the same clothes (no doubt to sell on eBay). Makes me wonder why Target limit some of these items so much. Anyway have fun apartment and ring hunting :D.

  15. Your boyfriend is such a doll! I absolutely love the shopping experience in a Lilly store... There's just nothing quite like it and I'm glad you got to experience it after your disappointment in Target! I knew it was going to be Insanity town (people lined up at 3am at my local one) so I just passed. I didn't get a single thing, and that's ok! The ridiculousness on eBay is disheartening though.

  17. What an unfortunate Saturday night. That must have been brutal and embarrassing. I remember the palaver I'd have to go through when I was there in the states. I was 25 too! I kept giving them my Australian drivers licence not thinking anything by it. Most places were ok with it but one time at Shooters(? I think, some sports bar) they wouldn't accept it and even my passport was no good too. They let me drink on "good faith" that they weren't forgeries or some bullshit. But it was so damn annoying and insulting too. Grrrr. BTW I can't believe people still go nuts like that for another Target collab?! The last one over here that saw stampedes and ugly shopping behaviour was a collab with Stella McCartney and that was years ago. Everyone buying up everything just to resell on ebay. It was awful. We don't go nuts like that anymore, not even for last years collab with Missoni.

  19. What a weekend! Love the nautical theme of the bedroom and accents you guys bought. I bet it looks very cute. Your boyfriend is the best! I love how he cares and is concerned. That means he loves you very much :) I followed the Lilly for Target debacle from the night before. I knew it was going to be a mess, by the way many were acting. I didn't shop the collection, because I'm not huge on prints. I think there were faults on both sides. Target clearly didn't have enough product to go around and some people are so greedy and mean spirited to others. The last collection I shopped was Jason Wu. I shopped it online.

  25. Aw your other half is definitely a keeper! I can't believe that restaurant was so rude! I was buying a gift for my mum (a cheese board with a few sharp objects in it) and the lady on the counter said I didn't look 18 when I'm 21! I showed her my ID and she said it wasn't me and that I was lying and called the manager - I felt so mortified and never will be going there to shop again! It definitely makes you think about your own service to customers!

    Good luck for your LSAT!
