Raise the Volume | YSL Volume Mascara Effet Faux Cils

I've always been a big advocate of drug store mascara.  Why spend a small fortune on a product that's only going to dry out, am I right?  Well, I was wrong.  The last drugstore mascara I used really damaged my eyelashes, so I started browsing for more "high end" mascaras to use while my lashes go back to normal.  Around this time, I had the opportunity to try Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Volume Efft Faux Cils.

Here's a little more about the mascara:

The most emblematic "false lash effect" volume mascara, now with an all new Lash Care formula.  Its secret is the Triple-Intensity Formula:  intense volume, intense color, and now intense care.  The nylon fiber brush coats each lash in deep color and maximum volume from root to tip, while B5 Pro-Vitamin strengthens and protects lashes.  I love love love that the mascara is packed with B5!

And here's how the mascara makes your lashes look!

If I was going to rate this product on a scale of 1-5, I would give it a 4 star rating.  It's not the best mascara I've ever used, but it's also far from the worst!  If I could make a change to the formula, I would want it to be less clumpy.  My favorite things about the mascara are that it contains Vitamin B5 (great for my suffering lashes), it's long lasting, and you don't have to scrub it off of your eyelashes at the end of the day!

Happy Tuesday, y'all!

Lilly Lovin' | Spring 2015 Picks

It's no secret that I'm a Lilly Pulitzer lover!  I can't get enough of the shift dresses & colorful prints.  I thought I would share with you my favorite pieces from their spring line.  I hope that it (literally) brightens up your Monday ;)

Alexa High Collar Shift Dress | I'm really obsessed with the high collar on this dress.  I also really love that it has a zipper so that you can adjust how low the neckline is; I think that adds to the versatility of the dress.   Bonus points that it's in the Pink Colony print!

Darcell Full Skirt Party Dress | This dress is super darling and perfect for so many summer occasions - graduations, showers, weddings, parties.  I just love it.

Vanna Crop Top & Skirt Set | This is a little out of my comfort zone, but I think it would be so fun for a summer concert!

Issa V-Neck T-Shirt | This t-shirt is on the top of my list!  I think it will be adorable with shorts or tucked into a paperbag skirt.  (And I'm obsessed with v-neck t-shirts, so it's the perfect pairing of my obsessions.)

Tate Stripe Skirt | Who doesn't love stripes?  This skirt would be perfect with a navy v-neck and platinum Jacks!

Skipper Printed Popover | Every single year I regret not purchasing one of these.  It's the perfect casual piece to throw on with jeans, yoga pants, Nike shorts... you name it.

What are your favorite pieces from the Lilly Pulitzer Spring 2015 collection?  I'd love to know!

Happy Monday, y'all!

Experimenting with my Look with Firmoo

2015 has been a year of experimenting with my look.  So far I've chopped a foot of my hair offwore a two piece dress to a work gala, and have started the hunt for my signature scent.  My newest  change? Getting new glasses!  I've been wearing the same pair since I was a junior in high school (aka 7 years ago), so I jumped at the opportunity to try a pair of Firmoo glasses.

Fun fact y'all, I'm pretty much blind as a bat without my glasses.  And I love East Tennessee, but the weather makes my allergies go crazy, and I end up needing to wear my glasses... in public.  That means they have to be cute!

There were two big reasons that I had been putting off getting new glasses - money & my indecisiveness.  I'm not going to lie, there are LOTS of glasses to choose from... but I loved that I could see how the glasses looked on their models and on other bloggers with similar face shapes.  As for money, the price point on these is unreal.  First time customers will receive 50% off of their order, and the price on my pair is only $26 right now!

I'm such a nervous person by nature, so here are some things I want to tell other people who may be a little nervous about ordering glasses.  I had my doubts about the quality of glasses that had plastic frames.  These glasses are as nice as the high end glasses that I own, just not as heavy, which I absolutely love! Also, when I started wearing these glasses, I was really concerned that there was something wrong with the prescription.  It turns out that your eyes just need a little bit of time to adjust to new frames.  I also want to let everyone know how amazing their customer service is! Great customer service seems to be so rare these days, but Firmoo get its.

What do you think about my new glasses?  See any Firmoo frames that you can't live without?

P.S. - Check out this giveaway that they're doing at the moment!

Hope everyone has an amazing weekend!

A huge thank you to Firmoo for providing me with a complimentary pair of glasses in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions are my own.  Thank you for supporting brands that support A Little Seersucker Sass!

Shifting into Spring

Dress:  J.Crew (similar) | Booties: Vince Camuto from TJ Maxx (Similar)
Bangle Bracelets:  Bella Vida Accessories c/o | Lip Color:  MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus

My mom is like my fairy godmother when it comes to clothing.  I'll be having a little meltdown because I have to go somewhere important the next day, but I have nothing to wear.  A few weeks ago, I was in charge of decorating and then attending a baby shower for a friend.  I realized the night before that I had nothing to wear.  The next morning, my mom shows up at my apartment with this long sleeved shift dress.  I love that it's appropriate for work or weekend, and the fact that I can wear my favorite booties with it makes me love it that much more!

Happy Thursday!  We're almost to the weekend, y'all!

Wednesday Wisdom | Being Present

I'm going to be completely honest.  The past few weeks were not the best for me.  I was exhausted and lacking energy, my body was ready for my infusion, and I was so overcommitted.  I had managed to get involved in things that I really didn't care about, and it was making me miserable.  I was unpleasant to my family and friends, and I was not a very good girlfriend.

And then my boyfriend sent me a blog post that he stumbled across about being present, and it was a game changer.

During the two "unhappy weeks," I rushed from meeting to meeting, came home, ate dinner, and then holed up in the bedroom to work on my blog.  To me, it was my escape.  But I wasn't spending time with my boyfriend, and I was horrible at texting my friends back.  After reading the post about being present, I became aware of my behavior.  I created a list of goals, and I changed up my post-work routine so that I was able to balance life a little better.

1. Say No.  I've written so many blog posts about my struggle with saying no.  But now, I'm not going to feel guilty for saying no if someone asks me to come to a meeting on the only day that I don't have meetings after work.

2. Put the computer away.  I really make a point to respond to every single comment that I get, but it can get very time consuming!  I've realized that sometimes I need to let comments go unanswered (but not unread!) and spend that time watching a movie with my boyfriend or taking a long walk with my dog.

3. Enjoy the moment.  I'm trying to focus on the moment that I'm currently in without letting what I have to do at work the next day loom over my head.

4. Try new things.  I think that it's so easy to get stuck in a rut, but part of my goal with being present and enjoying the moment is trying new things!

Now I want to hear from you - what do you do to "be present?"  Any tips you want to share with me?

My Tea Obsession | Dandelion Root Tea Review

If you read my post about a day in my life, you know I love to indulge in a cup of hot tea at my desk.  But I have a confession to make... I am a tea hoarder.  On any given day, I have at least four boxes of tea in my little desk cabinet and usually four completely different boxes of tea at home.  For my birthday, I asked for a tea kettle.  I. love. tea.

I was thrilled when given the opportunity to test out Kiss Me Organic's Dandelion Root Tea.  For starters, I love how pretty their packaging is.  It's cheerful and sunny, but still very calming at the same time.  When I went to take my first sip of the tea, I was terrified that it was going to taste like dirt.  (After a couple of bad experiences with certain teas, I like to mentally prepare myself.)  Y'all this tea is good.

The tea is made from aromatic hibiscus, cinnamon powder, and dandelion root.  It has just a touch of cinnamon, so the taste isn't overpowering.  It's all organic, it's vegan, and - my personal favorite - it's naturally caffeine free.  The tea is supposed to leave you feeling tranquil, and that it does!

The tranquil nature of this tea makes it perfect for unwinding with when I sit down at night to work on blog content.

What's your favorite time to enjoy a cup of hot tea?  Do you have a favorite kind?

Happy Tuesday!

MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus

It's very rare that I review a product that wasn't submitted for review and that was purchased with my own money.  However, I can't help but brag on MAC's Viva Glam Miley Cyrus lipstick.

I ordered this lipstick on a whim when I was having a rough day.  It seemed a little too bright for my liking, but I read over 10 blog posts about it, and finally felt brave enough to do it.  I thought it would be perfect for spring, and I loved that proceeds go to the MAC AIDS fund.

When it arrived, I fell in love!  I had planned to just use it for fun looks on the weekend, but I wear it to work pretty frequently, as well!

• Long lasting.  This stuff is amazing.  I love my Russian Red, but it can be a high maintenance color that requires multiple touch ups.  This color stains my lips, so even when the creamy sheen has worn off, my lips are still a pretty pink color.  (The first time I tried this, I put it on right before I showered... it was still on my lips when I got out!)
Doesn't require a liner.  Buying a new lipstick isn't super expensive, but I always buy a matching liner, so it adds up super quickly.  This color doesn't require a liner!!  It's smooth enough that you can just use the edge of the lipstick, or even rub your lips together.  I'm all about low maintenance products!
Moisturizing.  Again, I'm so used to a matte lip that I don't know what it's like to wear a creamy lipstick.  With matte, I could never put on a chapstick before hand.  I usually put on a chapstick before I apply, and when the shiny part of the color wears off, I like to put some Vaseline Rosy lips over the stain!
Brightens your smile.   This is one of those colors that makes your teeth look whiter!  Don't you love that?!
Supports a good cause.  Proceeds go to the MAC AIDS fund.  I love purchasing products that support causes!

• Limited edition.  I'm going to have to stock up!

Doesn't it look pretty with Lilly prints?!

Do you have a favorite pink lipstick for spring?  Happy Monday!!

Finding my Signature Scent with Scentbird

I recently read an article titled "10 Things Every Fashionable Woman Should Have by 30."  One thing that I noticed I was nowhere close to having was a signature scent!  I never really wore perfume growing up, as my mom is allergic to most scents.  However, so many of my childhood memories are related to scents.  Sometimes I catch a whiff of Chanel No. 5, and I'm immediately reminded of my very Italian great grandmother, a woman who believed that your hair could never be teased high enough and who would scold my grandmother for disciplining me.  Jovan Musk will forever remind me of getting ready for school every morning with my mom.  She would spray herself right before walking out of the bathroom, and sometimes, if I was lucky, she would give me a little spray of it too.  I spent all day feeling like a "grown up!"

Here's where Scentbird comes in.  Scentbird is a scent subscription service.  Like most subscription services, you take a survey so that they can get to know your personality, likes and dislikes, etc.  You can also choose perfumes that you would like to try.  Each month, you'll receive a (very generous) 30-day supply of a scent.  Your first month, you receive a little black tube along with your monthly supply of perfume; hang on to this!  The following months, you will just pop your scent into this tube!  Easy enough, right?!

Here are my thoughts on ScentBird:

First of all, I was tickled at how cute their packaging was when it arrived.  The photo does not do it justice.

After opening the package, I realized that cuteness did not end there! I loved the cute little cards, especially the one that explains how to use the product and how to replace the vials.  (Super simple, but it always helps to read the instructions!)  The perfume case comes in a little black bag, which I think is wonderful - no more accidental spritzing of something in my purse.

I have to tell y'all, when I saw this card, I got a little freaked out.  I had ordered See by Chloe, because the site said it was great for the office & blended masculine and feminine notes.  When I sprayed it, it was not what I was expecting, and I thought that I had gotten the "perfume of the month."  It turns out that See by Chloe probably isn't the most perfect scent for me, but I'm glad I found it out before I purchased a full sized bottle!

See is not a very overwhelming scent, so I like to spray it on my neck and on my wrist.

Isn't it so cute & miniature? :)

I cannot wait to get next month's scent!  I have been looking to find the perfect subscription service for me, and I really think Scentbird is it, especially while I'm on the hunt for that perfect signature scent.

Have you ever tried Scentbird before?  Is it something you would be interested in?  What is your signature scent?

If you have any questions for me about the product, feel free to shoot me an email!

P.S. - Don't forget about tomorrow's Spring Fling link-up with Pick Your Beau!

A big thank you to Scentbird for providing me with a free month of their subscription service in exchange for an honest review of their product.  I love the product so much that I have chosen to continue my subscription.  If you sign up for the service using the link provided in this post, it will help me to earn free products!  (This is the same for everyone that subscribes to this product.)  All opinions are my own.  Thank you for supporting brands that support A Little Seersucker Sass.

I like to do this every few months, and I thought this would be a great opportunity to learn more about my new blog friends!

Here's how it works:

Here are the questions:
1. Describe yourself in three words.
2. What is your biggest weakness when shopping?
3. What is your life like outside of blogging - career, family, etc.
4. What is your current obsession?
5. Here's where you ask your wild card question :)

My answers:
1. Describe yourself in three words.  Messy, resilient, bubbly.

2. What is your biggest weakness when shopping?  Dollar aisles & makeup.  My wallet cries just thinking about it.

3. What is your life like outside of blogging - career, family, etc.  I work as a marketing & corporate events coordinator.  I'm not married, but I have a wonderful boyfriend, and we have a dog together - Francis.  My family is wonderful.  I love to try out new wine bars in my spare time.

I'm so excited to share today's St. Paddy's outfit with y'all!  I'm a Kappa Delta alumna, so I have a tonnn of green clothing, but it's all sorority related.  So last weekend, I popped into Old Navy hoping to find something festive to wear to work, and I fell in love with this dress.  I'm going to have to purchase it in navy, as well!
