My Event Style

My job is very social, and it feels like there is always an event to go to.  However, my favorite work event each year is our big fundraiser in February!  It's the largest in the city where I live, and sells out earlier and earlier each year.

I have a super soft spot for this event because it's the reason that I have my current job!  I started an internship as their RSVP Coordinator right after graduation, stuck around for a second internship after that one ended, and then accepted a full time position there when I decided not to go to law school.  This year, I got to be on the "event team" again, which was super cool to me!  I choreographed a dance for the VIPs in our city to participate in, and I managed all of the Instagram coverage of the event!  I wanted to have a little photo shoot ahead of time, but I was so busy working that I didn't have time. :(

Top: Express | Skirt: Express | Heels: Steve Madden | White Bracelet: Francesca's (similar)
Mint Bracelet:  J. Crew (similar) | Earrings:  Francesca's (similar) | Nails: OPI Gel | Lips: MAC Diva

What I Wore:
I always wear black lace dresses for events.  Like it never fails.  In the rare occasion that I don't wear something black and lace, I wear something blush covered.  (Thank goodness my boyfriend finally told me that blush isn't my best color...)  For this event, I wanted something wild, so I went with a two piece dress.  #gasp  I never show my stomach.  But I went out on a limb and did, and I'm so glad that I did it!  This year is all about taking risks, and this dress was a big one for me!

(P.S. - If you end up buying this top, you should really invest in this bra, or a similar one.  I did a dance with lots of arm movements and jumping in my dress, and it never moved.)

(P.P.S - The shoes were so uncomfortable.  OMG.  I now know why I got them for $23 on the sale rack.  My toes were numb.)

(Last one - I was also sad about the earrings that I purchased.  I wore them for 6 hours and lost a stone... Should have splurged for the Kendra's)

Hair:
I used my trusty KISS Instawave!  It felt so nice not having to spend a full hour on curling my hair or having to pay someone an arm and a leg to fix it.

Make Up:
Last year I had my makeup done, and the lady overcharged me and made me bring all my own makeup to be used... This year, I did it myself!  I wanted to do a wild lipstick, so I did MAC Diva lined in MAC burgundy.  I tried to keep everything else neutral, so I used my Naked 3  palette & topped it off with Katy Perry False Lashes in Oh, Honey!

And here's a fun throwback to last year's event:

I hope everyone had a great weekend and is having a wonderful Monday!  What did y'all get into this weekend?

XX,

SS
