No Wonder You're Single.

Friday was just a bad day.  I was overwhelmed, and I cried at work.  My mom had made me a lunch the day before, I put it in the fridge, and when I excitedly went to retrieve it on Friday, it had been thrown away.  I wasn't having the best workweek, and I had been trying to decide if I really wanted to go to law school, and if not, should I stay at my job or look for a better paying one.  My boss came to my desk while I was upset, and I ended up crying in front of her.  It was the first time I had ever done that.  She was so motherly and calm about it, and I felt like the most unprofessional little baby.  But once I got it out of my system, I felt so much better.

In the midst of trying to figure out how to feel or what to think, I tweeted about the situation.  And I was met with this…

No wonder you're single.

So many things about this situation make me sad.  One - some random internet troll who has never followed me comes in and makes an assumption about my day.  Two - I was already upset, and said random rude person decides to attempt at adding insult to injury.  And three- single was an insult. When did single become an insult?!

I wrote a post last week about singleness.  It makes me sad that our society places such an emphasis that your worth is tied up in your relationship status.  Because it's not.

There are ladies out there that are much more professional than me and probably don't cry at work, and they're still single.  And that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with either of us.

So if you're single, realize that good things will come your way when it's mean to be.  And regardless of our relationship statuses, let's all make a point not to be "single shamers."

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday!

XX,

S.S.

    1. I do not know her, so it was a little uncalled for. Thanks for stopping by, Nee!

  2. I enjoyed my single time between high school and meeting my now long term boyfriend. I learned so much about myself and I enjoyed the time where I didn't have to take care of anyone but myself. It's so easy to sit behind the screen and say something rude (loved your response by the way). Hope you're having a better day! xx

  3. People are crazy! I'm willing to bet SHE is single too. Not that has anything to do with your tweet but still haha. I mean I wish I had that much time to sit around and find random people to tweet about. You handled it in such a classy way! You go girl!

    1. Wouldn't it be nice to have that kind of time?! And even then, I'm 100% sure we would find more productive things to do than troll the internet :)

  5. Some people really.........Sorry to read this SS, but I am sure it won't drag you down. I am sorry for her, she must have less to no self esteem that she needs a boyfriend/husband/partner to feel......what? I haven't the faintest idea.....do you? Sassy I love your post, and I agree with every single word you said.
    kisses sweetie

  6. Yeah because being single is the worst thing that could happen to a girl. Some people are so rude. We've all had those days at work. It happens. Loved this post!

    1. I am definitely a little more collected this week than I was last week, thank goodness! Usually by Thursday I feel like I probably shouldn't be in contact with the public, and on Fridays I'm just exhausted and want to hide under my desk until 5 pm.

      I hope you're having a great day :)

  8. I cannot believe the gall of that girl! How incredibly rude!! If it makes you feel any better Friday started off great for me and slowly turned into a terrible day - if you ever want to talk definitely let me know! Hopefully this week is going better :)

  9. Wow..she see ONE tweet about you having a breakdown & assumes you have them all the time, even if you did that wouldn't be the reason you're single. Harsh people.
