Making a Statement [Guest Post]

Hello friends!  TGIF, right?!  I am very excited to have Zena from Golden State Prepster guest posting on the blog today!  I am loving this post about statement jewelry for all budgets.  Be sure to check out her site & show her lots of love!

Making a Statement
It’s called statement jewelry for a reason.  Who doesn’t worry whether their glittering necklace will appear gaudy, tasteless, or over the top? But I think this is part of statement jewelry’s charm. It projects you’re a girl who likes what she likes, and will walk proudly in her glittery earrings and huge necklaces! Statement jewelry is that one finishing touch which turns a simple outfit into something everyone loves.

Upping a simple outfit Audrey Hepburn is amazing and all, but I think that iconic photo of her would be a little less special without the glittering pearls she wears around her neck. Emulate this classy queen by adding a special touch to formal dresses, professional attire, casual dresses, or even jeans and a collared shirt.

Adding contrast or coordination Statement jewelry can bring an outfit “head to toe” with coordination. Match a maroon skirt with maroon earrings, or complement colorful heels with an equally colorful necklace.

Contrast This definitely takes guts, and doesn’t always work. Some of my favorite combos are blue and gold (denim top and a necklace), pink and orange, and pink and green (think Lilly!)

Adding color We can all admit that our closets contain more white, gray, and black than lovely pastels or happy bright colors. Statement jewelry provides that pop of color which can transform an outfit. A bonus is that you don’t need to worry as much about jewelry color fading or not exactly matching another tone.

In this post, I have six different types of jewelry, on price points for every budget. Hope you enjoy!

What are your favorite statement pieces in your wardrobe?

On an unrelated note, what's everyone doing this long weekend?  I am so excited to be picking my boyfriend up at the airport tomorrow... Two weeks has felt like a lifetime!  (And a trip to the airport gives me an excuse to play in Knoxville all day and FINALLY visit the new Lilly store!)
