My Moving Wishlist

The time has finally come, y'all… After moving back in with my momma + co. after graduation over a year and a half ago, this baby birdie is spreading her wings and moving out on her own!  I am equal parts terrified and excited.  For starters, this will eliminate my commute.  Instead of driving 30 minutes, I'll be walking 300 feet.  Crazy, right?!  I feel like the location is a happy medium - 30 minutes from home, 30 minutes from my college town, and 30 seconds from work.

I had no idea just how expensive it is to furnish an apartment, so I've been buying things in pieces.  But here are some things that I'm dying to have for my new digs!

I love spaghetti squash from Bonefish, so naturally I need this Gefu Spirelli Sprial Slicer for $27.99.

What home isn't complete without a "Wine-Go-Round" ferris wheel.  It holds your wine AND is a piece of art.  Definitely worth the $99.99 that I don't have.

This Hemnes Chest from IKEA is actually a practical pick.  $99.99 for a bedside table could be a lot worse.  I love white furniture.  However, I'd probably trade out the plain black doorknobs for these.

I know that spending $54 on a shower curtain is extremely frivolous and ridiculous, but I can't get this Lilly Pulitzer beauty out of my head.  She is coming home to me next paycheck.

I'm super in love with this white Douglas desk from World Market.  I am not in love with it's $239 price tag.  Luckily, my momma has an old desk like this that's just chilling in the basement and has offered to give it to me.

These are one of those things that I didn't know existed.  But as soon as I learned that they existed, I realized that I needed them.  They're only $20 and can be found over on JorjaPorja's Etsy shop!

My boyfriend and I always snack on cheese & crackers when we're together.  I love this little nautical cheese board from C. Wonder, and $38 is a pretty sweet price point.

Does my list compare to your "must-have" list?  Any suggestions on things that I will probably need, but won't realize it?

XX,

SS

  2. That's so exciting you're moving out on your own! I'm jealous, but I know that my time for that will come! I love all your picks, especially the cute cutting board! That's something I hadn't thought about but would definitely come in handy because I enjoy a good wine and cheese snack too :)

    Congratulations on your big step!

    1. Thank you! After living at home for the past year and a half after graduation, I am realizing just how much I need my own space. They have other cutting boards as well, if you would rather have a crab, a mouse, or a monogrammed square one :)

    1. Thank you! Once I get inventory of everything I have and the space, I plan on making a trip to IKEA to avoid their crazy shipping charges. I'm glad that you give them a good review :)

  5. There are SO many things you realize you need once you move out! I am so grateful for can openers, measuring cups/spoons, tooth brush holders (we use a mason jar, since we didn't realize this until we had nowhere to place them the first night), spatulas, and my small ironing board/iron! Haha well, a lot of other random stuff, but I really didn't think about these! ;-) congratulations on the move! It's exciting!

  7. I really want to move out on my own, but still being in college and having a very limited income, combined with the fact Toronto is one of the most expensive cities in Canada to live in, I don't think that will be happening anytime soon. But I'm already starting to buy some things that I can take with me to a future apartment.
