Mary Kay Review

When I received a Mary Kay VoxBox from Influenster, I wasn't sure how to feel.  Before receiving this box, I had never used Mary Kay.  I always viewed it as the quintessential brand for older Southern ladies.  Boy, was I wrong!  (There's a part of me that even wants to be a consultant now!)  Here is my step-by-step review of the Mary Kay products that I received.

  - Before Shot -

 - Foundation -
I used the foundation that I usually use - Smashbox CC Cream in Light/Medium.

- Powder -
Mary Kay translucent loose powder -  This is definitely comparable to the $34 translucent powder that I was using before.  However it's less half the price ($16!) and comes with a really cool feature twist lock feature inside of the powder.  When you want to shake some powder out, you can unlock it, and then lock it back up when you're finished.  That feature cuts out a lot of waste that I've experienced with other translucent powders.

I applied it with the Mary Kay Cheek Brush.  I like the size of the brush, because I think it allows more control over where you apply the powder compared to a big, fluffy powder brush.  The bristles are super soft.

- Bronzer -
Mary Kay Bronzing Powder in Light/Medium - I love this bronzer. I would describe it as soft - you don't have to dig the brush against it.  It flakes off easily and applies easily.  I applied this with the Mary Kay Cheek Brush, as well.

- Blush -
Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color -   Let me tell you a really cool secret about this product - it's a dupe of NARS Orgasm Blush!  However, Orgasm is $30, and this is only $12.   I applied this with the Mary Kay Cheek Brush

- Eye Shadow -
Mary Kay Cream Eye Color in Apricot Twist -   Personally, I have mixed feelings on the color of this product, as it blends in with my skin tone.  However, it's a great cream eyeshadow & doesn't leave your eyelid feeling sticky.  I use it on days where I'm going for a natural look, but on days when I need a hint more color, I use it as a base for my Naked 3 Palette.

- Eyeliner -
Mary Kay Gel Eyeliner -   If you like gel eyeliner, this one is amazing!  It's a plus that it comes with it's own little expandable brush applicator.  The eyeliner dries quickly and won't end up in your crease.  If you've never used gel eyeliner before, I like to start at the inner corner of the eye and work my way out.  Gel is great for winged eyeliner, if that's your thing!

- Mascara -
Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara in Black -   This is my new favorite mascara!  I have super sensitive eyes, so I'm always a little leery to try new mascaras once I find one that I like.  So I am very glad that I went out on a limb and tried this one out!  I love that it's only $15!  The brush is very similar to that of Benefit's "They're Real!" and Chanel's "Inimitable."

- Lip Color -
Mary Kay Nourishine Plus Lip Gloss in Mango Tango -   In the bottle, this color is intimidating… It's very orange.  However, it looks a little different when it goes on.  Besides the color, the product is great!  I'm more of lipstick girl than a gloss girl, but the product isn't sticky and is long lasting.

- FINISHED FACE -

So… what do y'all think?  Do you use Mary Kay or would you be interested in trying it?

I hope that you enjoyed my review, and that you're having a great weekend!
