Classic vs. Trendy

Recently, I've started to feel like my style is evolving.  I feel like being a young professional is a bit tricky.  I'm only 23, and have been out of school for a year and a half, while part of my pledge class is still in college!  (Nothing wrong with either of those things... we all move at our own paces. But I am a little bitter that they still get to wear baggy t-shirts and Nike shorts every day.)  Part of me feels like I should be dressed at least semi-professionally at all times, especially with the nature of my job and the caliber of people that I run into, and another part of me feels like I should dress "fun" while I still have the body for it!  It's the battle of classic vs. trendy.

My hair is super long and hits three inches below my bra clasp.  The only things I have done to it in the past few years were get two major hair cuts of 4 inches each - once a week before graduation because I wanted to look like a respectable adult & once right before Christmas last year because I was so frustrated with it that every day I became a little more tempted to hack it off with scissors - and I added auburn   On Wednesday, I'm getting my first "trendy hair" experience... I'm having my hair "honey dipped," also known as balayage.

I'm kind of obsessed with Jessie James Decker... She is so fab!  And I love the fact that she has a YouTube tutorial on how to do this yourself, which means that I'll be able to do my own touch ups.  So let's all cross our fingers that I look as hot as Jessie when I'm done... If I don't chicken out on my first experience with "trendy hair."

As for outfits, I'm going shopping this weekend to buy a few pieces to test the "trendy waters."  If I'm going to buy one "trendy" piece this season, what do you suggest?!

And any thoughts on the balayage hair?  I ask y'all because I know you're pretty fab, and I trust your opinions.

I hope everyone is having a happy Monday!  Be sure to stop by tomorrow for a Carolina Cotton Bow Tie review!

XX,

SS

Friendly reminder that I do not own the image of Jessie and Eric Decker, however, I have sited it back to where I found it.  Also, this is not a sponsored post and all opinions are my own :)

  1. I like that look on others, just not really my style! I did have shorter more professional hair. But I wanted it long so I could wear it curly for graduation. Growing up one step at a time. Haha

    1. I don't blame you a bit! I'm so afraid to chop mine off because I keep thinking that I might want it long for something.

  2. I still don't know how I feel about this hair trend. It looks good on some people if it's done right! I definitely love to have a few trendy pieces in my wardrobe to mix in with classics. It's just fun!

    1. I am trying not to think about it, and just do it! Haha. The good thing about it is that it's just hair :)

  5. I love the look (and the ombre) but I think it would just look silly on me! I usually stick with just highlights/lowlights.

  6. My style has been changing lately too! It's becoming more classic and grown-up. I've never dyed my hair because I really like the different tones of brown I have and I'm not that daring haha, but I'm sure that style would look great on you!

    1. Hey, if it isn't broke, don't fix it! Take pride in the fact that you have hair that others pay for to achieve the same look :)
