Weekend Recap -- Surround Yourself with Love

There is something so magical about being surrounded by the ones that you love!  This weekend, I was lucky enough to experience that.

My beau came in on Friday, and I was super excited since I hadn't seen him in three weeks.  He had a late start, so I spent the time waiting for him spoiling myself.  For starters, I treated myself to a Chai latte

Had a versa spray tan

Tried a new lip color

Picked up some pottery that I painted

And gave myself a DIY gel nail manicure

I spent some time blogging, reading my devotional, and just enjoying the beautiful high ceilings in the hotel room that I had to myself for the moment (before my two male "roommates" showed up.)

Saturday was a busy one!  After sleeping in, we attended my sorority's fundraiser, which I loved.  I always like when C meets my friends from undergrad, because they know a side of me that he will never see (aka me in undergrad…yikes!)  Then it was off to see my little get her bridal makeup trial done!  It made it even more real to me that she's about to get married.  And C not only got to meet her, but also her family who is like my second family.  It was such a sweet moment in my life.

After a much needed nap, we went to a young professionals event with one of my sorority sisters to watch March Madness.  And then I did something out of character - I went to the bar to celebrate a sister's 21st birthday!  C got to meet even more of my sisters there.  As much as I dislike the bar scene, it was such a fun night!

Sunday started off with brunch, a trip to the mall, and then a Menchies run before saying our goodbyes.

All in all, I am so thankful for such a fun-filled weekend surrounded by those that I love and that love me right back.  How was your weekend?  What did y'all get into?  Happy Monday!

SS

  1. Sounds like you had a great weekend! How do you like the diy gel manicures? I've been curious about them ever since I heard about them.

    1. This is only the third time that I've done it, so I'm still getting the hang of it! But I really like them for quite a few reasons - they're budget friendly, you can change the color as much as you would like, and the polish comes off with acetone instead of scraping!

I found the tutorial on The Sweetest Thing blog! She has a few posts on it now :) The only one that I have used is the original one that she did. (The pictures show her wearing a dark polish and holding a mason jar.)

Let me know how you feel about them if you try them!

  2. I've never had a spray tan before, I always worry it won't last. Sounds like you had a great weekend with your boyfriend and friends (and sister!).

    1. I pay for it monthly like you would pay for a regular tanning bed package, so I take full advantage and usually get one every five days! Haha. My mom has olive skin like you do, and hers last much longer than mine :) Since I don't have y'all's natural glow, I do what I have to in order to fake it ;)

  5. Love this! I totally agree that that is one of the most important things. How sweet to see her get her makeup done! I bet that was such a sweet moment for the two of you. It's crazy to see everyone start to grow up and start new chapters in their lives!
