Sweet Sisterhood

“Out of such pure and simple beginnings grow great and wonderful things.”

– Lenora Ashmore Blackiston

It is hard for me to believe that I have been an alumna member of my sorority for an entire semester now.  The remaining members of my pledge class are going alum tonight, and they have been on my mind all day.

I joined a sorority looking for friends, and I left with so much more.  If you have ever considered Greek life, I urge you to give it a try.  I would not be half the person that I am today if it was not for my sisters.

My sophomore year, my new member educator (aka pledge mom) read a note during preference that I will never forget as long as I live - sisterhood is about crawling through the back door and walking proudly out the front steps.  My sisters have never left me, even when I was moody or bossy or looked like complete and total hell or was sobbing on New Years Eve because the love of my life broke up with me.  My sisters have never been rude or bitter about my accomplishments and have always been there to support me, fix my hair, and offer me pieces of their wardrobe when I am being dramatic and indecisive.  If you've ever heard the Eric Church song "Like Jesus Does," it has always reminded me about my sisters.
We love each other, we brag on each other, and we will fight to the death for each other.

When my sorority was in a "liking" competition on Facebook last week, so many other chapters banded together to help us win!  Sisterhood isn't something that just exists within a chapter, but it is a network of love.  I am so blessed, and I have nothing but well wishes for all of the women who are bridging over to alumna life!

Do you have a story about sisterhood that you would like to share?  I am super sentimental & would love to hear it!  Also, if everyone would show some Panehellenic love & remember the Tarleton State chapter of Phi Mu in your prayers, I'm sure that they would greatly appreciate it.

I know Mondays are rough, but if you want to make your day better do something nice for a sister (or anyone really!)  I promise you will feel a little better!

XX,

SS
